I remember, as a kid, there were more women breastfeeding. They were discreet and it was so natural, no one gave a second glance.
Mainly, there weren't substitute milk stuffs available, not everyone could afford goats milk, and kids had more resistance against certain diseases.
If it comes to supporting women's right to be responsible mothers and choose to feed their kids in public, I am an advocate.
What are your thoughts?

my sister many years ago dated a guy where his sister was still nursing her daughter at 5yrs old...
the mother should put her foot down when the child turns 1 or before

I nursed my daughter & I tried to find a private place, but sometimes I did nurse in public. If you are dressed properly, & know how to drape a blanket, most people don't notice.

Generally, unless the kid is enimic,(sp), they shouldn't need it after they are able to have whole foods.

As the wise and noble man Mr. Theodore Nugent said..."When in doubt..Whip it out"

If a woman is feeding an infant in public...fine....that is the way it should be. When the woman is still whipping that tit out to feed a 5+year old....that is an unfit mother with exhibitionist tendancies.

Exactly! The skimpy clothes so many chicks wear show more than a discreet nursing mother. On the other hand I have seen woman just unbutton & pull it out, that's not cool.

As long as they are discreet, no one should care. I used to walk through Walmart nursing mine. I just threw a blanket over my shoulder, and did my shopping.

If a woman wants to flop 'em out and feed her child in public, go for it. Be discreet or don't, I don't care. I care more that you are feeding your child, because thats kind of important. As for the older kids nursing... after they start getting teeth... if you still feel the need to give them breast milk buy a pump...

Breastfeeding any child over the age of say 2-3 is kind of weird to me. But to each their own. I couldn't do it. I did with my son for the first six weeks, after that I felt like I was a prisoner so I stopped. Pretty selfish of me, but I tried.

The 1st month is most benificial for antibodies. You did good! I nursed my daughter for about 2 years, it worked for us. She simply weaned herself gradually & naturally. I admit it was frustating at times, especially when she fussy or I was busy, but I would not have done it differently.

Personally it doesn't bother me except for when I'm at work. I'm in law enforcement and a lot of women use it as a sympathy tool just before I/we arrest them. THAT annoys me.

Probably because they broke a law that didn't INVOLVE breastfeeding, would be my guess.
