EXCLUSIVE: Bill Clinton Impeachment Chief House Investigator: I’m ‘Terrified’ of Hillary

NEW YORK — Dave Schippers, who served as the Chief Investigative Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee’s probe into whether Bill Clinton committed impeachable offenses, stated in an exclusive radio interview that he is “terrified” of Hillary Clinton.

Schippers is one of the few people who personally viewed – indeed he helped to collect – the room full of evidence in the impeachment probe. He says the evidence included 60,000-plus pages of written documents, video and “hours and hours” of tape recordings, all of which are still under lock and key.

During the interview, which aired on this reporter’s talk radio program, “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” Schippers, unprompted, raised questions about the death of Deputy White House Counsel Vince Foster. He further claimed, “We know that there were people who disappeared.”

Regarding his stated fear of Hillary, Schippers said:

“Today, I am still terrified of Hillary. Absolutely I am terrified. Because if she gets into office. In fact, I’ve told my wife, I said, ‘If Hillary gets elected, look for the FBI or somebody to come and pick me up the next day.’

“And I think I’m the only one left. [Former Congressman] Henry Hyde is dead. [Independent Counsel Kenneth] Star didn’t really hurt her. Yeah. I was scared when I was out there… I’ve been terrified ever since. Because things happen. Things happen.”

Hyde, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, had asked Schippers, a Democrat, to lead the House impeachment probe.

During the interview, Schippers raised questions about the death of Foster, whose body was discovered on July 20, 1993 in Virginia’s Fort Marcy Park. An autopsy concluded the cause of death was a “perforating gunshot wound mouth-head.”

Without offering proof, Schippers said he believed that Foster was a “weak link in the chain of evidence,” and that his investigative committee was barred from probing the lawyer’s death.

He stated:

“Vince Foster was probably as close to Hillary as anybody on the face of the Earth. He knew all about the (Rose) law firm. He knew all about Whitewater. He knew all about the money she made, the $100,000 she made overnight in the commodities market. He knew everything.

“And I think he was a weak link. In my opinion, he was a weak link in the chain of evidence. And obviously, we could never have called him as a witness. But I was going into that investigation. I was going to call FBI agents. I was going to call the Park Service. I was going to call the coroner and everybody else. We weren’t allowed to do it. We were stymied. Just stopped dead in our tracks. And I don’t know why.”

Five official or governmental investigations concluded that Foster committed suicide. The nature of Foster’s work, as well as the six days it took before Foster’s suicide note was found, led to speculation and conspiracies about his death.

I asked Schippers, “Are you saying, if I am hearing you correctly, that there are legitimate questions that you believe should be asked about the deaths surrounding the Clintons, like Vince Foster and others?”

“Absolutely. Absolutely,” he replied.

Schippers further claimed that “We know that there were people who disappeared.”

He continued:

“When we started our investigation, Henry Hyde said, ‘How wide do you want to go?’ And I said, ‘Get us an open investigation. We have so many things that we want to investigate.’ And we got an open investigation where we were permitted to investigate as far as whatever came up in the impeachment inquiry.

“Immediately after the 1998 election, the leadership in the House put the brakes on. We had a meeting and Henry Hyde said the House has told us that we’ve got Monica Lewinsky and we can go no further. We are not permitted to do any additional investigation. And I said, ‘My God, we’ve got at least three murders and other things that we are going into.’ And he says, ‘I’m sorry we can’t do it.’”

Schippers described the room at the Ford House Office Building where the evidence was housed during the impeachment probe as having armed guards outside. He said those who were permitted to enter were not allowed to bring anything in or out.

He said he was one of the few people who actually reviewed all of the evidence in the impeachment case. He said that only 65 House members accepted an invitation to review the evidence in the room and that all senators declined before they voted against impeaching Clinton.

Asked about the specifics of the evidence, Schippers said he is barred from answering the question. However, he replied, “Let me say this. Sixty-five Congressmen saw that evidence. And 64 voted to impeach. Take your own conclusion.”

The museum not only reproduced the rooms in the bunker, but also provided visitors with authentic photos of that time, pictures from the movie "Der Untergang" ("Downfall") and extensive information on the bunker's location, people related to it and Hitler's last days there.

Although the idea was to give people a chance to learn more about the historic facts of that time, some German media outlets and organizations criticized this initiative.

"Berlin has once again confirmed its reputation as the capital of tastelessness," German newspaper Die Welt wrote, adding that the exhibition resembles a kind of an "odd spectacle," rather than a historical display.

The new initiative has also been criticized by the museum Topography of Terror, which is located on the site of the former headquarters of the Gestapo.

"We explain history, document it, and stick to the facts. That is why we cannot support such productions. Sensationalism isn't our thing," the museum's representative Kay-Uwe von Damaros said as cited by local.de.

British Engineers Create Robot That Devours Living Organisms

Report: More People Killed by Violence in Brazil than in Syria

Telesur TV reported that the homicide rate in Brazil dropped in 2015 to just over 58,000 – 160 homicides per day. In Syria, in the midst of a vicious civil war, around 55,000 people were killed by violence in the same period, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Brazil is, of course, a much larger country, with a population of 200 million, compared to Syria's around 16 million – although the vast numbers of people displaced by the war make an accurate count difficult. But the report by the Brazilian Forum for Public Security details just how strong the grip of violence remains on South America’s largest country. The homicide rate in 2015 was 28.6 people per 100,000 (the global average in 2012 was 6.2 per 100,000). And 28.6 is an average – in the country’s impoverished northeast, the ratio was even higher, reaching 57 murders per 100,000 in Sergipe, according to the Independent.

"What these numbers show is that we are still facing outstanding levels of violent crime…and Brazil today is the world leader in this regard," Minas Gerais Federal University's coordinator for criminal studies and public safety, Claudio Beato, told Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper on Sunday.

"Putting police in strategic locations and spreading them out intelligently is important. The problem is that there are many places (in Brazil) that are doing absolutely nothing (to lower crime rate), either because they don’t have the ability to do so, don’t have the resources, or the willpower to fight crime," Beato said.

Of course, Brazil's notoriously violent police force was not exempt from this crime wave: police killed 3,345 people in 2015, 6.3% more than in 2014. That's nine per day. Close to 400 officers died in the same period, Telesur TV reported, but only a third of those were on duty when they were killed.

Samira Bueno, executive director of the forum, told Brazilian newspaper O Estado that the jump in police killings "shows us that the Brazilian government encourages the excessive use of lethal force," Forbes reported.

"Police kill a lot, as if they have been given the right to decide who dies and who lives," she said.

The 2016 Global Peace Index ranks Brazil at 105 out of 163 countries in terms of its peacefulness, which it assesses according to a variety of factors that include funding of UN peacekeeping operations and the existence of nuclear and heavy weapons. This ranking places Brazil very close to the US, at 103 place, where the average homicide rate in large cities was 10.8 people per 100,000 (the overall rate was 4.9 per 100,000).

There were 15,696 murders in the US, population 319 million, a figure that represented a sharp increase on the previous year.

CEO of the forum Renato Sérgio de Lima told reporters, "As the world is discussing how to avoid the tragedy that has taken place in Aleppo, in Damascus and several other cities, in Brazil we pretend that the problem does not exist," the Independent reported.

"We think that it is a minor problem. We persistently show that we do not take security as a national priority."

Police in Suffolk County, New York, are offering a $5,000 cash reward in return for information about the theft of a life-size cardboard cutout of Donald Trump.

The cardboard version of the Republican presidential candidate was taken from the yard of a home on Broadway in Holbrook on October 21, just before 6pm.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers has released CCTV footage of the incident in the hope of arresting the Trump thief.



The video first shows a car stopping suspiciously close to the property before a man approaches the yard and appears to examine the cutout.

The man then unties the character from the fence before walking away – with a cardboard Trump in tow.

A police appeal for information along with clear images of the perpetrator (and the cutout) have been posted on Facebook, sparking some amusement online.

Other social media users argued over whether the culprit was a Democrat committing an act of sabotage or a fervent Trump supporter eager to possess his own version of the real estate mogul.

Tribe leaders vow to protest Dakota pipeline through winter

Leaders of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe say they'll keep protesting against the Dakota Pipeline through the coming winter months, building shelter and providing their supporters with food and heating.

Native American leaders dug in their heels on Saturday, saying they will protest all winter against the North Dakota oil pipeline (DAPL), which would violate sacred tribal lands and might damage water resources in the area.

"Let's reroute the pipeline. It doesn't have to put our water at risk," Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Dave Archambault II told reporters. He was joined by Cheyenne River Sioux Chairman Harold Frazier.

Native Americans opposing the construction of the pipeline will erect some sort of “permanent structures” to provide protesters with heat, food, and shelter during the wintertime, with temperatures as low as -37 Celsius (-35 Fahrenheit). About 10 shelters will be constructed on tribal grounds.

“We're just working through some technical details as far as where the land is, and the type of land that can be used for some permanent structures,” Archambault said.

There have been months of protests over the $3.78 billion, 1,172-mile Dakota Access Pipeline. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe claims that it would destroy sacred grounds and put at risk the region’s water supply in case of leaks. DAPL is planned to pass near the tribe’s reservation.

Earlier this week, there were violent encounters between police and protesters. More than a hundred people were arrested. Protesters accused the police of using abusive tactics, including spraying mace and detaining people in dog kennels.

“Militarized law enforcement agencies moved in on water protectors with tanks and riot gear,” Archambault said. “We continue to pray for peace. We call on the state of North Dakota to oversee the actions of local law enforcement to, first and foremost, ensure everyone’s safety.”
