Woman Farts During Surgery, Gets Badly Burned
http://www.opposingviews.com/i/health/woman-farts-during-surgery-gets-badly-burned/

The fire burned much of the unnamed 30-year-old’s body, including her waist and legs, the report said, concluding that no flammable materials were in the operation room during the surgery, and the operation equipment was functioning normally.

Similar cases have been reported. In his book “Curious Behavior: Yawning, Laughing, Hiccupping, and Beyond,” author Robert Provine notes that “a gassy gut can be fatal, as it was for a patient having a colonic polyp cauterized. An electric spark caused the patient’s bowels to detonate, blasting out the colonoscopy and ripping a six-inch hole in the patient’s large intestine.”

Intestinal gas consists of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen and methane, with the latter two being the flammable components, The Washington Post explains. Provine notes that only about one-third of people produce “combustible levels,” and that it’s harmless as long as it doesn’t cause a secondary fire -- such as when coming in contact with flammable surgical drapes.

Naughty Treats: Sweet Toothed Japanese Nibble on Female Chocolate Nipples

The new brand is to hit the shelves of Japanese stores next year. Called “Choconip”, each set of eight chocolates represents the transformation from a young girl’s nipple to a mature female nipple.

The manufacturer of this rather strange confection is Mme KIKI4. The company says the idea came to them suddenly when they just thought “Why don’t we make chocolate in the shape of girls’ nipples?” Indeed, why ever not?

The design was made by a contemporary Japanese artist, Makoto Aido.

“I think nipples are quite lovely. I thought these nipple-shaped chocolates should be very sweet,” says creator Makoto Aido.

The set will cost 5,500 yen ($52.50) and will be sold at Mme KIKI's online store from February 6 next year, but they are available for preorder.

It looks like the Japanese public have already fallen for the new candies and feedback from the nation's Internet community is very positive.

Chocolate nipples might look embarrassing and somewhat disgusting to western eyes, but in Japan things are different. The Jison-in temple in Wakayama Prefecture is even devoted to the worship of nipples. The temple was strictly women only, and nipple-worship was used for fertility and safe child-birth.

Uber 'discriminates on gender and race' - BBC News

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-37834774/
*Embedded Links*

Ride-hailing companies such as Uber and Lyft may discriminate against black people and women, a study from three US universities suggests.

Black riders faced longer wait times and more frequent cancellations than white riders, the research indicates.

Women were more likely to be overcharged or taken on elongated routes, it says.

Researchers took nearly 1,500 rides in Seattle and Boston, gathering data from three taxi-hailing companies.

The two-year study was conducted by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford and the University of Washington.

Undergraduates were given identical phones with three ride-sharing apps - from Uber, Lyft and Flywheel - and instructed to take a handful of prescribed routes.

They noted down when:

    the ride was requested
it was accepted by the driver
    they were picked up
    they got to their destination

In the Seattle experiment, the researchers came from a range of different racial backgrounds.

In the Boston test, each researcher requested rides under two different names - one "white sounding" and the other a "distinctively black name".

In Seattle, trip requests from black riders took up to 28% longer to be accepted by both UberX and Lyft than those from their white counterparts.

In Boston, the cancellation rate for black-sounding names was more than twice as frequent as for those using white-sounding names.

Male passengers with black-sounding names requesting a lift in low-density areas were more than three times as likely to have their trip cancelled.

For women, the results suggest that female travellers are often driven further.

Female researchers reported "chatty" drivers who drove extremely long routes, on some occasions even driving through the same intersection multiple times.

"The additional travel that female riders are exposed to appears to be a combination of profiteering and flirting to a captive audience," the researchers noted.

The report authors concluded: "Passengers have faced a history of discrimination in transportation systems.

"Peer transportation companies such as Uber and Lyft present the opportunity to rectify long-standing discrimination or worsen it."

"Removing names from trip bookings may alleviate the immediate problem but could introduce other pathways for unequal treatment of passengers."

In a statement provided to the BBC, Rachel Holt, head of North American operations at Uber, said: "Ridesharing apps are changing a transportation status quo that has been unequal for generations, making it easier and more affordable for people to get around - no matter who they are or where they live.

"Discrimination has no place in society, and no place on Uber.

"We believe Uber is helping reduce transportation inequities across the board, but studies like this one are helpful in thinking about how we can do even more."

Lyft spokesman Adrian Durbin said in a statement: "We are extremely proud of the positive impact Lyft has on communities of colour.

"Because of Lyft, people living in underserved areas - which taxis have historically neglected - are now able to access convenient, affordable rides.

"We provide this service while maintaining an inclusive and welcoming community and do not tolerate any form of discrimination."

Uber & Lyft ditch black, female riders or keep them waiting – study

"UberX drivers are nearly three times as likely to cancel a ride on a male passenger upon seeing that he has a ‘black-sounding’ name,” the study said. “In these extreme cases drivers are more than four times as likely to cancel on a African-American male passenger than on a white male passenger.”
-'---

“It is impossible to say in any individual case that a driver discriminated, because there are many valid reasons that a driver might decline or cancel a trip, or choose a certain route. But when we see many such decisions disproportionately affecting certain groups, that points to discrimination in the aggregate,” he wrote. “Interestingly, we observed that in some cases, drivers would not officially cancel the trip, but would make no attempt to actually pick up the traveler using a ‘black’ name, or would even drive in the opposite direction for 20 minutes or more, until the research assistant canceled the trip.”

There was no discrimination in rating the passengers, MacKenzie noted, as both white and black passengers earned “virtually identical” ratings over the course of the experiment.

The study attributed the discrimination to “decentralized decisions of individual drivers” rather than anything in the company policies. Uber and Lyft responded with statements disavowing any form of bias.

’If I was a Hillary supporter, I’d win a Pulitzer Prize’: O’Keefe to RT on exposing Democratic fraud

http://www.rt.com/usa/365012-okeefe-rigging-election-fishtank/

Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe has been vilified in the mainstream media for his four-video series, ‘Rigging the Election’ ‒ charges he believes are unfair. He joins RT America’s Lindsay France in the FishTank to discuss his investigation.

The biggest complaint against O’Keefe’s undercover operation from his critics was that it was “selectively edited,” he tells France, insisting that all he did was consolidate “hundreds of hours of tape” into “a coherent storyline, connecting various dots” ‒ just like any journalist would do.

“All journalism is edited. The words ‘selectively edited’ is a misnomer, I mean, what journalism is not produced?” he says. “On TV, you see these guys [saying] I’m a criminal and I’m a liar” for how he produces his stories. “All of my journalism requires using pretenses and undercover work.”

Sting operations are necessary to tell the stories the mainstream media can’t or won’t, O’Keefe says. He doesn’t have sources in government that he needs to worry about maintaining for access. The important thing, to him, is to allow citizens to see “what happens behind closed doors.”

The four-video ‘Rigging the Election’ series was released between October 17 and 26, and shows how the conspiracy to win the White House for Hillary Clinton “was orchestrated right from the White House down,” O’Keefe says. “These are high-level operatives… The expose was probably one of the most powerful, indicting things of this election.”

The first video explained how the Clinton campaign incites violence at Trump rallies. The second video uncovered “a diabolical step-by-step voter fraud strategy,” including an admission by one key operative that the Democrats have been rigging elections for 50 years. The third video focused on “exposed prohibited communications between Hillary Clinton’s campaign, the DNC and the non-profit organization Americans United for Change.”

The final video ties the whole thing together by breaking down the process of the investigation. Project Veritas Action donated $20,000 to Bob Creamer’s Americans United for Change (AUFC). A month later “in an unexpected twist,” the money was returned.

“AUFC president Brad Woodhouse, the recipient of the $20,000, heard that Project Veritas Action was releasing undercover videos exposing AUFC’s activities,” the group wrote. “He told a journalist that AUFC was going to return the twenty thousand dollars. He said it was because they were concerned that it might have been an illegal foreign donation.”

O’Keefe says that his goal is to examine “the character of our political institutions.”

“We must be the last line of defense against government corruption, fraud and abuse,” he tells France. “Veritas’ job is to go out, infiltrate, expose and release it to the public.”

“We are living in a banana republic at this point, where we are no longer able to speak truth to power... the real story is always the media,” O’Keefe adds. “The citizens are the barbarians at the gates, we are the people that are coming up against their palace guard, and we are saying, ‘We’re not going to take this anymore’. We’re going to do your job for you, media. We’re going to report the stories ourselves. And this whole series has really become a story about the mainstream media: Their response to it has been the story.”

Indeed, the response within the Democratic leadership proves that the Project Veritas Action investigation uncovered some uncomfortable truths for the party, O’Keefe tells France. In reaction to the first two videos, Scott Foval was fired from his position as AUFC’s national field director, while Creamer “stepped down” from the Clinton campaign.

Although O’Keefe objects to being called a troublemaker and a lawbreaker ‒ he tells France he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor six years ago for having a camera in a federal building ‒ some questions have been raised about the potential legality of his sting operations. Several of the conversations in the videos were recorded in so-called “two-party consent” states, ThinkProgress reported. In 11 US states, all parties must consent to being recorded, and at least two participants told the liberal-leaning outlet that they were in a two-party consent state during conference calls that appear in the videos.

O’Keefe denies any wrongdoing.

“Attorneys vet everything we do, and we’re very careful to film things where people have no expectation of privacy. We are very careful about not breaking any laws whatsoever,” he tells France. “It’s always about targeting the messenger, ignoring the message, obfuscating. Deny, deny, deny.”

“If I was a Hillary supporter, I’d win a Pulitzer Prize, I’d have Emmy awards, I’d have Peabody awards, I’d have Oscar Academy awards, I’d have book deals,” he added.

National Guard threatens Dakota Access protesters with arrest on public lands

Members of the North Dakota National Guard have threatened to arrest people on Army Corps of Engineers land who are protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline. The land should be open to the public ‒ unless the government decides it isn’t.

Protesters canoeing down the Missouri River in North Dakota on Tuesday afternoon stopped to set up a fire on the riverbank on Army Corps of Engineers land. At that point, they were approached by “heavily armed” members of the National Guard and told that they would be arrested for trespassing if they didn’t leave, RT America’s Alexander Rubinstein reported.

Canoeing w/ water protectors, stopped to set up fire. National Guard comes & threatens arrest on Army Corp land. Used to not be arrestable pic.twitter.com/c4IZu2aL5e
— Alexander Rubinstein (@AlexR_DC) November 1, 2016

The main camp, Oceti Sakowin, is on Army Corps land, Rubinstein pointed out.

At issue is the 38 miles of the Dakota Access Pipeline that is set to cut through land that belongs to Native Americans under the 1851 Treaty of Fort Laramie. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe says it was not adequately consulted about the path of the pipeline, and that the project will endanger the tribe’s water supply and disturb sacred lands, including burial sites.

According to the Army Corps of Engineers, its land, including “those lands and waters which are subject to treaties and Federal laws and regulations concerning the rights of Indian Nations,” are open to public use. “Picnicking and related day-use activities” are specifically mentioned in the rules and regulations governing public use of the Corps’ lands. According to section 327.10(b), fires are allowed under certain circumstances, namely that they will be contained in designated areas, they won’t be left unattended and they will be completely extinguished.

However, there is one exception: Access is allowed at the district commander’s discretion.

327.12 Restrictions.

(a) The District Commander may establish and post a schedule of visiting hours and/or restrictions on the public use of a project or portion of a project. The District Commander may close or restrict the use of a project or portion of a project when necessitated by reason of public health, public safety, maintenance, resource protection or other reasons in the public interest. Entering or using a project in a manner which is contrary to the schedule of visiting hours, closures or restrictions is prohibited.

Violators may be punished by a fine of up to $5,000, six months in jail or both.

RT reached out to the Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District, which oversees the land around the Standing Rock Reservation, to see if the district commander had closed or otherwise restricted the land near the protest site

“The National Guard does not fall within the chain of command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,” spokeswoman Eileen Williamson replied in an email. “The National Guard is present at the request of the State to support local law enforcement actions.”

A call to the North Dakota National Guard was not returned.

Nearly 120 people were arrested during a standoff with police and the National Guard on Thursday, when law enforcement sought to reopen state Highway 1806, which protesters had blocked off, and to clear the so-called North Camp, located on private land.

CCTV captures horrifying crocodile attack on couple in pool (VIDEO)

http://www.rt.com/viral/365010-crocodile-attack-pool-cctv/

Terrifying CCTV footage has been released of the moment a hungry crocodile joined a couple taking a late night dip in a hotel swimming pool in Zimbabwe.

The shocking security footage from an unnamed hotel in Kariba was posted online by Zimbo 88 and has been viewed more than 240,000 times.

It shows the juvenile Nile crocodile creep up towards the edge of the pool before lunging in. The male guest quickly jumps out, leaving his female friend alone with the giant reptile.

The woman frantically swims to the edge of the pool but the croc strikes and appears to bite her arm before she can slip away. She manages to get out of the water as the man tries to scare away the intimidating creature.

Two voices can be heard commenting off-camera on the scene, which could be straight out of a horror movie.

Online comments responding to the video focused on the man’s willingness to flee the pool while the woman was left behind.

Some defended his actions, however, saying it was an instinctive flight response.

The Nile crocodile is the second largest crocodilian species and has the reputation of being a vicious man-eater, killing an estimated 200 people each year.

Kariba, home to Lake Kariba – the world's largest man-made lake, is renowned for its large croc population. This has been rising in recent years, along with the number of people attacked and killed by them.

Zimbabwe declared a ‘state of disaster’ last February due to the severe drought facing the country. The drought conditions have reportedly forced typically lake-dwelling animals out of their natural habitats to seek other water sources, such as swimming pools.

Crocodile stalks and attacks humans in private residence swimming pool -

The current weather situation in Zimbabwe remains very dry with little to no rainfall in the latter part of 2016. This drought is causing Lake Kariba water levels to drop dangerously low and the natural ecosystem is being hugely affected, many fish are also being netted due to lack of governance and funding - in turn this is creating the crocodiles to search elsewhere for food and hence the tenacity of this particular juvinile Nile Croc!

Holy Crap! There are a hell of alot of articles written about impeaching Obama & petitions.

I even found a site dedicated to it with forums. Wild. smokin

*Some people have NO idea, how mild & PG & PC this site is flowerforyou *

Yeah, but there are also thousands of sites dedicated to cat videos, and people falling down.

It's not how many sites people set up. ( a LOT of them are set up by one or two people, and others just copy-paste stuff from the first ones).

There is NO "screaming for impeachment" going on in the only place that matters: Congress. So this is just a few people venting.

Since the internet really got going, the number of calls for impeachment, or new Constitutional Conventions has gone viral. But 99.99999% of htem are meaningless efforts by a tiny group of fanatics.

When I was a kid, there were serious, albeit still minority, groups dedicated to impeaching and removing certain Supreme Court Justices, because the small groups opposed desegregation, and general equality.

This is the same kind of stuff. And since we'll have someone new in office long before a serious effort could be mounted to HAVE an impeachment, (remember, the process takes months, even years), it's all just an exercise in exaggerated fussing.

Yeah, but there are also thousands of sites dedicated to cat videos, and people falling down.

Yes, it does take a long time. And there should of been a MUCH bigger debate & outcry & even demand, so that, one way or another, it would be over with before this election.

The "Pay attention to this & not that" & "Forget about it", doesn't work on as many as you may think. The entire country is hungry for justice, in one form or another, for one thing or another; because in most people's minds, there hasn't been much.

Americans don't consider things they are worried about/ concerned about, or take action for; as a 'exercise in exaggerated fuss". Which is ONE of the reasons people are angry... because we are being TOLD, NOT ASKED, what the problems are & we are not voting or choosing the solutions.
They are being made for us.

Maybe, the only people who see the world with rainbows & unicorns OR people who say,, ' Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain ' OR  ' Oh look, a squirrel! ' want to call it 'fuss' & downplay/wordplay it.

But Americans wanting justice & our 'Original Constitution'  being utilized & Bill Of Rights & privileges, maintained... won't shut up or go away.

No matter if we agree or who likes or agrees or disagrees,  Americans have the right to demand impeachment & for someone to step down... or we are no longer 'A Republic '. Many... would argue that we are not. Some may say, we never really were.
