Hi July!!!
They were great....K-12 and grades 9-12 took off for a field trip. It is the season of Makahiki (HARVEST TIME). It was customary for Hawaiian Royalty to travel to all parts of the Island and visit their people....also to collect taxes... the kids picked differnt parts of the Island. Usually they have to do a good deed, but this year they were told old stories, legends, and memories by their teachers!

There is a free site which is sponsored by the XEROX Corp.
These are cards that have been beautifully drawn by children.
Look and click on the one you want and Xerox will forward it to a military person serving our country.

Comes with beautiful messages pre-written or you can do your own. What a nice thought!

do you think if I wish hard enough Santa will put him under my tree?

To H--- with the tree. I'll take out all of my jalousies, the screen, and put a chute with a soft cushion for him to fall into...

I am originally from Minnesota....wouldn't get a tree to save my soul. We get them shipped in from Pacific NW and they are cut about early October...

hugs bonnieb, been a while, lost my two parents almost exactly 2 months apart...time has healed a lot since then....
It sure changes your prospective of what is important.

Best advice is send flowers and call as often as you can. They love those cards too!

I am with sage on the sweet potato/yam thing...
I only cooked them because other people seemed to like them. Put them in a pie and thats a whole new thing!
One year did find a recipe that had some sort of liqueur in it with brown sugar, cinnamon, and all sorts or goodies....I remember eating and liking it...thinking this tastes just like pie...
Then never again!
