When it comes to dates / partners / girlfriend / wife. I open the door, it bothers me when they step out and do not wait for the door to be open for them. Sometimes, in essence, I wonder if it bothers the other sex, what I found to be a show of respect. And NO expectation of spreading any legs because of this. slaphead

I started this forum/chat because, I have done this all my life, really not paying attention. Lately, for the last about six month, interacting with 2 decades younger croud, well, they will, for the lack of better words, not pay attention and almost slam the door to whomever, whenever. Now that have change, not because of me, I just keep holding the door and now most of them follow, both sex. As a social behavior, I find it interesting.

“It takes courage to love, but pain through love is the purifying fire which those who love generously know. We all know people who are so much afraid of pain that they shut themselves up like clams in a shell and, giving out nothing, receive nothing and therefore shrink until life is a mere living death.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt

Interesting topic, IgorFrankensteen.

I agree people can rationalize their behavior, or lack of ethics, by thinking in terms of their own needs. Makes me think of Maslow's theory of the "hierarchy of needs."

"Maslow stated that people are motivated to achieve certain needs, and that some needs take precedence over others. Our most basic need is for physical survival, and this will be the first thing that motivates our behaviour. Once that level is fulfilled the next level up is what motivates us, and so on."

Interestingly, most versions of that pyramid include sex as a basic physiological need, yet relationships and emotional intimacy are higher up the pyramid. So with regard to dating... I guess that explains why many will take shortcuts to fulfill that need.

Is missing sleep.
