if you like trump, follow his advice and inject disinfectant and call me in the morning.
Anyone dumb enough to do that deserve the results they get!! Same as injecting illegal drugs!

Firstly, Trump improved nothing but the sustainability of the uber rich. I am not one of them, nor are most on this board.

Secondly, his display of 'leadership' during crisis has been horrific.

And finally, I tire of the 'socialist' fear tactic.

If you look for a list of the happiest countries, you might find this:
https://www.cntraveller.com/gallery/the-10-happiest-countries-in-the-world

10. Austria
9. Canada
8. New Zealand
7. Sweden
6. Switzerland
5. Netherlands
4. Iceland
3. Norway
2. Denmark
1. Finland

If you look for the healthiest countries, you might find this:

https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/healthiest-countries-in-the-world

10. Israel
9. Norway
8. Singapore
7. Australia
6. Sweden
5. Switzerland
4. Japan
3. Iceland
2. Italy
1. Spain

Most of these countries have some type of programs that are sold as 'socialist' in our country, yet they are either happier AND/OR healthier than we are.

So yeah, if that is what 'socialist' is, maybe it is better than what we are doing, not being on EITHER list.

While the happiest countries have some socialist programs, I doubt that is the reason for their happiness. I would suspect it is because of the culture and lifestyle of those countries. My only experience has been with Canada. Despite the higher socialism taxes, the underlying lifestyle is very enjoyable. I could comfortably live there if not for the extreme cold.

When you list Italy and Spain as having the best health care, that just hasn't rung true with the coronavirus. Both have shown very high death rates.

frustrated while trump does not understand that his words kill ... some are not watching tv but possibly listening to others about the covid 19 virus ...
so this comes second hand sometimes to people ... joke or not ... his cult is listening ... and how many cults killed their own people ...

Lysol urges people not to inject or ingest their products ... becouse of what trump says can be done ...
https://youtu.be/GQzGQVyT1ao

and this is dangerous ... for our country ... and the people ...
who believes him ... he needs to listen to the facts and experts but know... he just want to be the center of attention all the time ... fired one of the scientist that came up with a cure for the last mass deceases... we had ...
that is wrong in the head ... we need a leader that is not... all the time campaigning for his nxt election and using this as a platform for it ... but that is what a cult leader does ... so the experts say ...

Some of us fail to grasp how stupid a significant number of the the US population is. We see this day in and day out, unfortunately it sometimes has some disastrous results. You might recall the couple who ingested aquarium cleaner as a means of preventing the virus; perhaps the Tide pod challenge? People just keep demonstrating their stupidity and then others expect the government to protect these people - what a waste of resources!! We now even have TV shows that celebrate that stupidity slaphead

Inject people with disinfectant?
What was he smoking? whoa rofl

Who would be dumb enough to think that was a real idea? I took it as a joke when it was said. Same level as that couple who took the fish tank cleaner!! And these are the same people who elect our politicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After people being locked down or restricted for a period of time, they tend to want out. Same as cabin fever; when that happens they tend to be more careless. It takes several days from the increased social activity before we see the results. I believe the average from being exposed to serious enough infection to be tested or hospitalized is 5 days. Things that seem to increase numbers are like holidays (Easter) and nice weather days especially on the weekend. Practice your social distancing and wear your face covering.

The difficulty is getting to that "herd" immunity and the cost associated with getting there by having the illness. A well designed vaccine causes the immunity response in the body without the dangers associated with the disease. In the case of COVID, the dangers for some are very real and the result for some is death.

The cost associated with it now are only because it turned into a pandemic. That hardly ever happens, last time was a century ago with Spanish flu.
You cannot anticipate that, ever, as there will always be something new at some point. At least as long as we live the way we live (fear-based).
Most diseases that come up do not turn in a pandemic.
And if this ever comes back round it likely won't cause this much chaos as most will be immune.
What will happen when it mutates remains to be seen, even if that is going to happen. And if it would change enough for our immune system to not be able to handle it, the vaccines they're making now -based on this version- won't help either.

Also... as for the cost of it... did you read the economic results in the USA AFTER the Spanish flu?
The cities that did a very strict lockdown and social distancing AND for a long time as well, bounced back economically afterwards at the speed of light! It boosted everything.
The cities who hadn't been so strict and didn't shut down stuff for a longer period didn't do so well at all afterwards.
So I think this cost thing is relative. Don't forget a lot of money is being made now too, just from different things.
And if everything gets a boost afterwards... Might make up for a lot!
Big difference now of course is that many companies can and are still working because it's internet based, only have their people work from home. Maybe not in the US, but in other countries like mine for sure.
The "cost" I was referring to was not economic! The "cost" is in the number of people who will die. As I'm one of those people with underlying concerns, I'll be very careful to protect myself until a vaccine is available. I'd really prefer to live and enjoy life for a few more years!

It would have been nice to of had some advance information that it was going to be broadcast. Maybe I can find a video of it to watch tonight. I guess if such things are advertised, it is done places I never see.
Now I now why I wasn't aware of a concert - it was announced as the late night commies coming together for something. Last thing I would waste my time watching is some so called comedians yammering!

Preference: a greater liking for one alternative over another or others. When we say we 'don't' do something. That is not a preference.

A preference ranks options by order. If I don't eat spinach, that is NOT a preference. It is a choice, and It is an exclusion altogether, not even in the options. If I prefer strawberry ice cream, I will still eat other types. But amongst those options, my first choice is strawberry.

If I do not date girls, that is my choice. Because they are not an option, I can't really say it is a preference. They are not even on the list. IT is an exclusion and it is my choice though.

Pardon? What are you saying MsHarmony?

She's saying there
's a difference between *preference" (i.e. what one prefers) and "choice" (as Ms harmony puts it, absolute *nopes*)

I disagree with the latter...some things, such a sexual orientation are NOT "choices"..
For some, sexual orientation is a choice, for others,it is a preference. Depends totally on the individual and their physical/psychological make up.

It is somewhat different. Even though I am a Minnesota resident, I winter in Arkansas and am still here. Arkansas is one of the few states that does not have a shelter in place or stay at home order from the Governor. Basically we can come and go as we choose. Don't take this to mean there are no restrictions. Groups are limited to 10 people and businesses that people would congregate at such as bars, restaurants, and health clubs are closed. Places of short term lodging are restricted to essential personnel such as doctors and nurses. State parks and campgrounds are day use only and the national parks are closed. Even if we are a tourism state, tourists are currently NOT WELCOME! There are other restrictions designed to limit spreading the virus but we can still mostly go on living and a number of places of employment are still working. Common sense seems to prevail!!

Its the Media that pushes the gloom and doom.

The media report the statistics.
Ignoring the statistics doesn't make them go away.

Sure, Mankind as a whole will eventually be healed of COVID-19, but such healing has not happened yet.
IF the media only reported the statistics without opining the doom and gloom, many people would be less fearful.

When I trusted the other person would accept whatever I shared without any consequences. The other situation would be where I would be totally anonymous.

There will be major changes in the US!! We can give guidance to people but we do not force them to follow that guidance. In time, the virus will kill people or they will learn how to deal with it. Self reliance and common sense will come back to those who survive, those who can not will perish. We have put social distancing in effect across the country, yet we read news stories of people with total disregard for the idea - the virus will educate them!. We will learn how to adjust our lives until science comes to our rescue and even when there is a vaccine, people are still going to have a more conservative stance on close socializing.

I was quite surprised to see that the US has much less new cases today? How is that possible when you were later than us to have it exploding and chitloads of affected people?

Over here it seems Germany is starting to do better, Belgium and the UK are still getting many new cases, UK peaked tremendously yesterday!
Over here also still a stable approx 1300 new cases a day.
Some are thinking that April 28 we get to live normally again, as this was the next date they'd set to re-evaluate. I'm thinking they're nuts. That ain't gonna happen, way to soon. We should be lucky to see a slowing down by then. WAY too soon to turn things back to normal, even a few things.
I think it won't be until July before we can think about that. And even that is wait and see.

Apparently supermarket were busier, so much so that you couldn't keep the required distance. Here it's okay, but in cities apparently not.
We did have more people yesterday, I wonder if they can and will stop the tourists.
I was told the police were stopping and sending back Germans and they refused to go?!
They're SO effing selfish and rude.
A couple things on this: Walmart has established a maximum occupancy in their stores, 5 people per 1000 square feet. Shopping carts are disinfected prior to each use. The state I'm in has stopped all short term rentals (hotels, motels, campgrounds and such) to discourage visitors. They have also closed most attractions. Significantly discourages out of state visitors!! Bars are closed and food is take out only. It all equals nothing to do, no place to stay, and eating in your car or along the roadside!

let's face it !
we expecting for someone who runs his mouth and bash or argue with Trump , but based in my experience , I'll preferred some that is smart and don't run his mouth as Trump does .
I think the key is ignore whatever Trump says or do and show to the voters a real leadership and offer what we waiting for all this 4 years a REAL PRESIDENT .
We have been waiting for a real President much longer than 4 years. The elder Bush was decent but probably the last great President was Regan, the greatest before him was probably JFK who we lost to an assassination. There is no great Presidential material running in 2020 or in the wings for future years.

For POTUS, I would much prefer someone else. While both have some capabilities and both are intelligent, both are also deeply flawed but in different ways. Neither will bring to the US government what it so desperately needs which is a major realignment and removal of around 50% of the bureaucratic incompetents. We have been through numerous administrations and our government is still incapable of actually functioning. The idea of replacing the entire management level team every few years and expecting departments to operate efficiently is ridiculous!!

Summer will come and we all will find ways to enjoy it even if not to the extent or ways we would consider normal. Some activities just won't happen and we will have to find other ways to enjoy.

The only 100% safe area from the virus is outside in an area where no person who has been exposed to the virus has ever been. Anyplace where others have been in the last 6-9 months is suspect. In reality, there are ways to enjoy the better weather and be outside without much risk of catching the virus. Be someplace where others have not been in recent days such as your back yard or on a lake. Do all the protective things to get there and back safely. Be suspicious of anything that someone else may have touched in the last few days. If you need to get or use something that someone else may have touched, spray it or wipe it with disinfectant. The studies I have seen indicate that the lifespan of the virus outside of an infected person varies with the material the virus is on. Some are as short as a couple hours and some are several weeks. We can enjoy life to some extent and still be safe but you have to understand what you need to do to protect yourself and others around you.
