We've been talking about the probability of a double dip for a couple of years now. Now, the cheapskate Conservatives have made it an inevitability while the more "socialistic" European countries are relatively unaffected. Way to go, righties.

the intelligance was gathered during the Bush Presidency and was accomplished by Navy SEALS, they killed Osama, Obama didn't

Where does this stuff come from? Oh never mind. I guess we know where it comes from. It's like pointing out that the Pentagon planned and executed Shock and Awe in Iraq. Bush didn't have anything to do with it. He was clearing brush in Texas.

I think just a few answers to a few questions would suffice.

Libertarianism is a religion because nit relies on faith. There has never been a Libertarian regime that has functioned for the benefit of an country. Libertarians say that, "well, it has never been tried". I had to research that Austrian School, because it is shunned by all mainstream Economists as a short-lived, untenable philosophy. It achieved some limited popularity during the late 1800s and the early 1900s. This was a time of huge boom/bust cycles, leaving massive carnage in its wake. Even ultra-Consevative Milton Friedman doesn't think much of it. The philosophy itself, as I read about it, rejects scientific methodology for its rationale, and that is what makes it a religion. Granted, this is only one brand of Libertarianism, but the answers to those pesky questions have yet to achieve the light of public discourse. It doesn't seem to me to be a very productive line of inquiry to pursue in the search for answers.

Damx! He's doing a better job than I thought. Not my idea of a "failed" President.

while chinese immigrants did the labor, it was AMERICANS that planned, designed, implemented, picked the routes, and did everything but the labor./quote]
Now it's the Chinese who planned, designed, implemented, picked the routes, and did all that PLUS the labor for their 124 mph, 2,184 mile high-speed rail, while Americans can barely keep Amtrac running. How embarrassing.

it's called doing their job, as i have said before... do all police pay other people to do their job while they are getting paid on top of that? I know your liberalism makes you think that money grows on trees, but it doesn't, that comes from the taxpayers. so in the crisis we are in right now, can you really justify this?

Then you are saying that it is better fiscal policy to allow a cold-blooded killer live out his days in freedom rather that put that tax-funded reward money into circulation helping the economy to revive while putting him in prison.

What questions?

Well, Whos's gong to build your roads? Who's going to teach the children of people who have no money? Who's going to see to clean air, clean water, safe energy, safe food? How do we prevent monopolies so that we have choices in the marketplace? How do we keep the Koch Brothers from running the world? How do we ensure choice in our election systems? How do we prevent America from becoming like Somalia? How do we ensure that there will be a middle class? How do we prevent the Corporatocracy from cornering the market on things like air and water, or do we want to? Are we to have our entire transportation system consist of privatized toll roads? Should our National Parks become private Disneylands? How many plane crashes do we need before we decide that we need an FAA? Is it OK to have a two-tiered class system? A rich elite and a working poor? Is it OK to have a police state to keep people who don't like this kind of a world in line? Should every news medium become a propaganda machine exclusively for the ruling bureaucracy? How shall we ensure that the Supreme Court does not become completely owned by the Koch Brothers?

How many of these questions do you want me to come up with? Perhaps you could attempt some answers on your own.

I thought we might get some answers to these questions by now. It's been quite some time. As a reminder, these are questions to which I don't believe the religion of Libertarianism has any satisfactory answers.

Seakolony requested that we keep this issue out of the Saudi Arabia Women Voting thread. It seemed like a reasonable request since it is off-topic in the previous thread. This would be the place to discuss this. The issue keeps coming up again and again. We can't seem to lay it to rest.

There is no "if" about it:

As I understand it you believe that President Obama is a Muslim. As of about a year ago, 46% of Republicans believe that this is true. About 20% of all Americans believe that. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/18/AR2010081806913.html Are you saying that you are among that 20%? I think we need to know so that we can gain some insight into your your thinking about the President's trips to Saudi Arabia in light of these recent remarks.

I'm bending over backwards here to try to satisfy you question. Your summary statement was, "so the 2.1 million dollars to catch an 82 year old man.... thats not including their salaries, trips, food and other wastes of money not mentioned... ". Forget the part that a reward system doesn't involve much expense at all in salaries, trips, food and other things not mentioned. It's reward money. If the police had to conduct a house-by-house search to find him, I can't imagine how much that would have cost. What would have been a cost-effective way to find him? I don't know a lot about police work, other than what I see in the movies. Perhaps you know of a cheaper way to find him.

I think Anybegood is right. It would be a mistake to pin our hopes too high on Saudi Arabia. The news report I just heard is that the sanctions against women driving will still be in place.

The King will do only the bare minimum that he can get away with without risking a major movement against the status quo. Elections can easily be marginalized by a monarch.

The only real good news here, IMO, is that the King is showing signs of being just being slightly uncomfortable about his diplomatic position in the world.

no, it is easier just to say your wrong... which you are

Ahh. Now we're getting somewhere. This will be a good posting to put into my "save" folder. It can explain a lot.

do you not see how that could get people to lie, and to put innocent people away to coincide with their agenda?

Is that what happened? I thought, "The FBI has paid a $2.1 million reward to tipsters who provided information leading to the June arrests of former crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger and his girlfriend, ". I think you are writing about some completely different issue. Should this be in a different thread?
