"Hate Crime Bill" What did you expect from the politically correct liberal left something that made sense? You keep electing thses morons and then whine when they do something stupid. They are more concerned with gathering enough votes to keep their sorry butts in office than with doing anything that is actually good for America. Perhaps that is why Congress' approval rating is one percentage point lower than the president according to today's paper.

One other thing about sovriegn soil, any embassy grounds is sovreign soil. That means the Russian Embassy grounds in the U.S. is Russian Soil and vice versa.

About the Passports of the 9/11 terrorists, they didn't have U.S. passports, they had passports from their countries of origin. They has Visas to enter the U.S. so what is required to be included in a U.S. Passport will have no effect on a terrorist from another country.

I agree with Fanta, people have to be held responsible for their own actions. Unfortunately the norm in today's society is to try to find someone to blame every time a person does something incredibly stupid. Somebody in the family knew she was going to an alcoholic treatment center because they told the news media about it. Why didn't someone in the family go with her? If she was that unstable, her family should not have allowed her to travel alone of course that would require her family to accept some responsibility instead of trying to blame the whole mess on the police.

I rarely do a cut and paste, but I believe everyone should read this and do a little reflecting.

Jay Leno wrote this; it's the Jay Leno we don't often see....

"The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true, given the source, right?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed, and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence, 2/3's of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change.

So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What are we so unhappy about?''

Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?

Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time, and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?

Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough.

Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all, and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipmen t to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings.

Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes , an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.

This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves t he U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain abo ut what we don't have , and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the President who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The President who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same President who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The President that cut taxes to bri ng an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks?

The Commander-In Chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk sho w? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?

Think about it...are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.

Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go.

They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds, it leads; and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells , and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about "how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way"...Insane!

Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.

We are among the most blessed people on Earth, and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.

"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

voileazur: Very eloquently put and totally on the mark.

Davinci: where do you get your figure of 600K killed by the U.S. in Iraq, funny that the mainstream liberal media isn't decrying that fact. You would think that the way they hate the current administration it would be their lead subject day and night. Could that number have a radical left spin perhaps?

once again people have read something into a simple statement. I said nothing about ones character or "personal worth" My point is make all you can legally and ethically and quit when you have enough. If you want big bucks, you have to be willing to work for them and that may entail doing something that is not your dream job. If it was all that much fun they wouldn't call it work and pay you to do it.

The sad fact is that if she was really that determined to get to Tucson and couldn't wait for the next flight, there is a shuttle bus that runs regularly scheduled trips from the Airport to various places in Tucson. Cost is about $20. Further if she was on her way to an Alcoholic Treatment Center, why the heck didn't the family send someone with her?

Oh and Invisible the reason I posted the comment about liberals is because the liberals were already gearing up their rant about police over reaction and blaming the police for her death. There are still those who say she should have been watched. If the police have to assign an officer to watch every person who is arrested soon there will be no cops on the street.

"A number of witnesses told officers they observed Gotbaum yelling and screaming while running through the terminal, according to Hill.
Two officers who initially responded approached her as she was going past the security checkpoint area back into the terminal, Hill said.
The officers were not able to calm Gotbaum and eventually arrested her for disorderly conduct, Hill said. "

All Liberals know that nobody is responsible for their own actions so they have to blame the police. This nutcase could have defused the whole issue by acting responsibly instead of like a screaming maniac. The policy is when you are arrested and in custody you are handcuffed. It is also not unheard of to leave a handcuffed detainee unattended. Unfortunately this woman died because of the choices she made put the blame where it belongs on her not the police.

Hummm this leads to some interesting thoughts.

Next time you are in an accident call the NRA.

Don't ever seek treatment from a doctor carrying a gun.

Most gun owners are law abiding citizens.

When you seek medical attention, you are already not in the best shape and doctors are human. They make mistakes. They are required to make split second decisions under a great deal of stress with a limited amount of information. Under those circumstances it is a wonder that they don't make more mistakes.

Quite frankly it is not an accurate comparrison, and before someone goes off on me Iam a gun owner, but the statistics are distorted. All the gun owner has to do to lower the statistics is to act responsibly where firearms are concerned. They are not required to make life and death medical decisions. If I am in an accident my chances of survival are better with treatment from the world's worst doctor than with the world's best gun owner.

being a vegetarian won't save you from E-coli, it was found in fresh spinich a while back and a couple years ago someone got it from Cantalope because they didn't wash the outside real good with soap and water before they cut it open and the E-coli on the surface got transferred to the edible portion. Makes you want to wash everything you eat in bleach first. But according th the book "The Coming Plague" they now have a strain of food poisoning that can live in and thrive on bleach.

Thank you. While the firm that is running the security is Israeli, the people who actually do the guarding are U.S. Citizens who must have a Q security clearnace. How do I know this? I have a brother in law in NM who is a security guard for one of the facilities.

Actually I think we should turn the CIA over to Mossad too then perhaps we might get some factual intelligence before the fact for once.

Philosopher:

Interesting idea but how efficient is it. Lead melts at 621 degrees F. So your steam must be super heated or it will cool the lead and solidify it. To heat steam that hot takes lots of energy. This sounds like it may take more energy than it produces. Alloying lead with Antimony will increase the melt point of the mix according to the amount of antimony added. Antimony melts at around 1100 degrees F.
