I'm tired of people bashing on what happened to Metallica. Metallica does not suck! James is just muzzled by other band mates that want to try and write music. Whats your take on what happened to Metallica?

Sorry but I used to be a huge Metallica Fan..I even play all their older songs on my guitar..but umm I have to admit they have started to increasingly started sucking..that ST Anger Album just blew..I think alot has to do w/ management though.

Thats exactly my point. St Anger was all the other band members sticking their noses into the writing. I hear you on playing all the old songs on guitar but its not James anymore. Its the influence of Bon Jovi Producer Bob Rock! That should be the first clue! James still kicks ass!

Really? This again?

Metallica sold out.

Metallica lost me as a fan after the black album.

James Hetfield was like Samson.. his hair was cut and he lost his gift.

They really were rude about the whole Napster issue. Tons of people were buying their music AND downloading it and they always had tons of revenue but they were super greedy anyway.

Simply they just suck now.

I'll still listen to the stuff of the old days, but only every once in a while.

I sure am tired of people asking about this, but we all have our turn, I guess. ohwell

There's my 2 cents.

I think their music is still good, but it's not the Metallica I knew and loved when I was a kid. I don't own or listen to anything after the black album. They're still technically a great band, but they're just not my style these days. After they changed, it confirmed to me that I like Testament better. :) ...and if you like Testament, check out Susperia. They're F'n sweet.

I hear you on the Napster thing. If they want to be cranky about royalties, then I figure they owe me at least a hundred bucks for each time the record company switched formats. I have bought master of puppets at leats 10 times. I don't think they sold out though. I have played guitar for almost 20 years now and I understand when they say they are looking for something new. I get tired of jamming the same tracks over and over too. Try Singing the same song over and over say about a million times and you will look for something new as well. The problem is St Anger should have never been released. They should have played the bay area clubs and checked how people liked the new material before releasing it to the masses!

The first song I heard on the radio of St Anger, I thought was a joke. I figured there was no way they were serious. Then another one came and I just about threw up. For them to allow that garbage to go out, I knew they weren't for me anymore!flowerforyou

Don't want to be rude, but Metalica?? F'n hell man. I think they have pretty much been consigned to the pages of history.. along with Abe Lincoln and all that lot. Get over it.

I liked them up until the Reload album but after that they got into the whole napster mess and made themselves look anti-fan.

Have not put out anything I'd buy since And Justice for all.
I had the Black Album but did not have to buy it.

For My money their contemporaries Anthrax and Megadeth both own them nowadays and Megadeth only has 1 original member.

Kill'em All, Ride the Lightning & Master of Puppets are classic and amongst the greatest metal albums of all time in my book.

I was disappointed in them long before the whole NAPSTER ugliness.

I listen to metal and other good music that beats the balls off Metallica. What do you think of that?
