I know that in american, social class divisions aren't always evident... however, what is everyone's opinion about dating/relationships/marriage with someone of a lower social class? Does it bring you down?

I think education wise could be a factor....but...you would have to have conversations first. People who may not have degrees can have a lot to offer just by their life learnings...
but if you can't find an even balance to talk about a variety of things...then people could get bored...
otherwise...money...it shouln't be a factor

I've gone out a few times with a guy who makes much less than I do. We come from similar backrounds, so I'm not sure that this is a 'class' issue. He could make what I do, but is self-employed and spaces his jobs out so as to have time off to enjoy himself. I work 5 days a week - a regular job.

He says he enjoys a simpler life than I, with fewer 'trappings', but seems almost defensive about his home, neighborhood, clothing and trucks. Our homes, vehicles & lifestyles are very different, but it doesn't bother me. I admire his lifestyle very much in some ways. He seems to have more trouble with it than I do.

At this point in the game, I would be happy with somebody to love me for me. Somebody to hold me when I am crying, somebody to laugh at my stupid jokes, somebody to take my hand once in awhile and tell me that everything will be alright, somebody to talk to, to love and be loved by.

I do find though, that sometimes it bothers them. ie, intimidation from someone who is more corporate, sophisticated. It's not about making them feel that way but they putting that upon themselves

Interesting question.....social class....meaning what exactly? How much money you have? education? the clothes you wear? the car you drive?

Ive seen millionaires eat with their mouth open and smack their lips and were rude and had no manners.

Ive seen poor people treat others with respect........

I dont dislike or like someone because of social class....money is just money and not the person!bigsmile
