I was in Wal-Mart yesterday evening and the store I go to is always packed with people. Anyway I'm standing in the check out line from hell and in front of me is a woman with 3 small children. One of them is throwing a fit for a toy. He's screaming "I want it I want it" She keeps calmly saying "No honey not today" He's screaming louder "I WANT IT" and she still has the same calm voice. Now I am looking around for another line to get into cause this kid is driving me nuts. Then the mother grabs some candy bars and hands this little hellion one. He throws is. She calmly reaches down and takes the little boy by the arm. Pulls him closer to her and POW! She slapped that kid right across the ass. Shot heard round the world. I see her gritting her teeth as she whispers something in his ear and I never heard another word out of him. I was in a great mood the rest of the day soooo go ahead and shoot me. When it comes to kids I say "Bus dat ass" Have a good day all

My mom didn't spank us much in public. But when she did that whispering in the ear, you could pretty much bet you were gonna get it when you got home, and you always did.

I think it is sad that you would brag about getting your jollies watching people hurt children.

Every kids needs to be diciplined differently, I haven't spanked mine since she was out of diapers, I haven't had to...

It's called parentling. Break their will early and they obey...laugh laugh laugh

Never had to do that with my kids. I always explained the rules before hand and what behavior was expected and what the consequences would be. Only 1 time did we have to leave the store due to emotional outbursts.

Now I don't disagree with you on that Cat she could have handled it differently but she didn't and the kid was throwing a fit

Head Start teacher here, I agree that he or she needed the pop on the heiny, too many children today have NO boundries. I deal with 15 to 20 3 to 5 yr olds everyday who think it is just fine to kick, bite, slap and curse at the teachers. It scares the he** out of me to know these are the children who will someday be the ones running our country. I believe that when they took the control away from parents and teachers that they really screwed up. Do I believe you should hit your children just because, No, absolutely not, but I also know there is a very fine line between discipline and abuse. The child wasn't beaten, but it took that pop to get their attention. Parents and teachers need to be in control, or the children who will someday run our country will be totally out of control.

How very very true. My X complains my son doesn't listen to her as well as he does me. No need to hit, just explain it on kid terms what the borders are.........now if we could only get world leaders to understand that!

the term "spare the rod, spoil the child" comes from the Good Book and look at our kids today...i am a more firm believer in the "Dobson pinch" a parent just needs to have the childs undivided attention...jmo
