How about a gathering for the Cubs-Sox games later this month? Tickets to the game may be sold out, but the neighborhood taverns/restaurants aren't!

It seems that being online has become an end in itself for a lot of folks, rather than being a tool for meeting someone nice.

I have noticed too much passivity (bordering on victimhood) and not enough activity.

Probably what inspired me to speak (write?) out was being solicited to be a "friend" by a woman I wrote to on here, without her actually saying "boo" to me back. That's not my definition of a friend. She may want to hide behind a keyboard, but I most certainly do not!

Activity is the only way to make things happen, people.

One great idea would be going to a Joliet JackHammers or Schaumburg Flyers game. I attended last night's Jackhammers game, and it was a blast!

The hammers games are always fun to go to, and usually cheap too

I think the reason we're even having this discussion is that everyone on here (both men and women) will not respond to anyone unless their profiles are perfect. No one appreciates getting shot down over what amounts to a single sheet of paper.

Some sort of get-together which would be inclusive (over/under 21, drinkers/nondrinkers) would be good. Getting out from behind the computer and into the world is a good thing. Hey, you might not only find a g/f or b/f (maybe), but even network with others and find a better job.

When I first signed up here, I did so with the hope of meeting someone from my general area. It became clear, fairly quickly, that it simply wasn't going to happen. The locals I tried to communicate with did not answer e-mails and did not post in the forums.

I have seen several posts, in other forums, about JSH get-togethers in various places. Most are too far away for me to attend, and all of them seem to be very alcohol-driven anyway, which would preclude me from joining in regardless of distance.

A get-together would be great but how do we organize such an event with people coming from all over Illinois? I’m in Chicago and would have to be honest and say that I probably won’t be driving down to Joliet (no offense) for a get-together.
If anything comes up on the North side.. let me know.. I can leave my keyboard at home for the day

Actually, it would take someone taking the bull by the horns and organizing something. I've done this before, but was disappointed with the lack of help, and then the low turn-out after all the "Oh, yes, yes!" RSVP's.

To tell the truth, I'm willing to organize something on my own, but I'd just like to ask that if you say you're coming, be a grown-up and follow through on the promise!

Usually on the weekends there is something going on down Melenium park, thats atleast what i was thinking when i suggested it. I know they are having a music festival for the next 2 weeks up to the 19th. It's also free, and in the city, so there arn't alot of excuses for not being able to come.

not sure who would want to do a get together, but as long as atleast one other person showed up, i would be happy with it.
