Just out of curiosity...do meaningful overnight relationships count as dating or relationships?

I think that most people are interested in a relationship, but only on their explicit terms. Uncompromising, my way or the highway type relationships, each for their own personal reasons based on their experiences.

I agree:smile:

If a relationship is going to come of something, I think most of the time they will choose to accept it no matter what their original thoughts or purposes set out to be.

Look at me...I was convinced that even dating was not in the cards for me at the time I signed up here, but was told about the forums and the friends setting and thought that sounded nice. But now, I'm in dreamy land over someone who I've become quite serious about. Who'd have thunk it?

More power to you:banana:
Awww..thanks dear! Gotta love these wild crazy guys!

Dating====I love taking women out I really don't know and spending money on them to discover that I really don't like them and then may or maybe we will have relations....

I am being Sarcastic in case you cant tell.....

I just wish I could find someone I liked enough to want to have a LTR with.......that would so cool

Its become my belief and observation that MOST women over 40 are not looking for love they seem to be looking for a retirement plan........

AND I SAID MOST WOMEN if this does not apply don't get offended. If you got offended it most likely applies....

interesting, i think just the opposite. a woman over 40 can be very independent and looking for love because that other fluff isn't as important anymore. JMO

I know I probably sound like a broken record, but dating gets old sometimes as well.I go on a fair amount of dates. Seems as if the women I would find myself compatible with want more than I am able to give them in the beginning. I want to ease my way into a relationship in a more knowing manner this time around. I jumped into my last two marriages and refuse to do so again. Thats not too much to ask is it? Get to know each other before getting serious? I have two small children who I also have to warry about. I dont want them to become enamoured with someone if she isnt going to be around for the long haul.

Sorry to ramble....

I hear what you are saying, but I find that to be true of men, sometimes, too. Even if it's not necessarily about money, it has been said to me that it's about time they "settled down", they want someone to take care of them in their old age. Gimme a break!!! Hire someone for that!! It's ridiculous in its premise as the woman could succumb to a disease and need the care or die before him. noway

Ultimately, a relationship....though it has to evolve through acceptance of one another....friendship becomes important, we must share interests & activities together.....

it starts with dating and trying to determine if this person will be worth the effort....

I am having opposite problem I guess... I'm 42, been solo for 5 years... graduated college.. buying my own place, have a decent vehicle, decent job, and would love to find a decent man for a long term...i am sooooooooooooooo tired of the short term leases... BUT, the men I meet say I'm too independant..WTH??? because I dont want to be controlled or I dont need a man to take care of me???? whats up with that??

I know you were kidding.... I was teasing.....
I guess the degree of meaning would correlate to the "quality" of the overnight relationship laugh laugh laugh

Are most people truly interested in Dating or really a Relationship? Some may say dating, but are really interested in a relationship. Which one is it really?

Well it has to start with dating before you can decide if it will become a relationship, or not. You are right though, a lot of people decide ahead of time what they want and sort of sabotage the whole thing from day one.
