I get the gist of the question, as in, have you ever spent a lot of cash on something for someone only to them see it as no big thing.

If I have that right, my answer is yes! Every woman (3 of them) I have bought expensive jewelry for, be it diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, whatever, each woman reacted with a response like "Oh, that's nice." The reaction would have been the same had I given them a hairdryer!

All of those commercials where you see women ecstatic over receiving precious gems? That's not my experience at all!

Maybe jewellery wasn't their 'thing' *incomprehensible to me, but guess it could happen* ... or did they feel the gift came with strings attached? (not insinuating, I swear - just playing devil's advocate) ... sometimes it's the little, unexpected, nominal gestures that speak louder than the grand ones (but precious gems are something to celebrate too love)

A man did this for me and I had the opposite reaction. I became his pet and him my owner for a year! When I realized that he has a "hero" complex and the things he did for me were really just for the attention from everyone else in our lives, that kind of took the integrity out of his gestures! Man, the things we learn!!!
