If you are at the point of meeting someone and suddenly your life takes a spill and you have too much to deal with...how would you handle it?
Would you spill your guts to that person or would you keep it to yourself?

Yes, you have to be honest, but just how much?

You do need to tell them what's bothering you. You wouldn't want them thinking it's them.

That actually happen to me about a month ago. I was going to meet somone, only it was them going through stuff. Well they were up front and in doing so, i respectd that and will set it up again in a couple months. If it is me going through it. I have no prople letting anyone i'm going to meet know where i stand.

I think you need to say something as to why, or else they might take it the wrong way.

Tell them the truth, let them decide

What is this "meet" that you speak of? lol

Tell the truth, they'll understand. If not, then they weren't for you.

Tell them only what you're comfortable sharing - I think it should be enough to justify putting them off for a while, but you don't have to tell everything - I'm sure it's private and you probably don't know this person that well yet.

Good luck!

I don't think you need to spill your guts but you need to be honest and say that your life situation is challenged right now.

You still would like to meet them but if what you're dealing with is too much for them to handle then you understand. That's about all you can do.

Hmmmmmmm that's one loaded question.......I believe in total honesty........I think that whatever is going on is for that person to take a chance and trust the other person to care enough to understand, BUT the other person should ALSO respect his/her new sweetheart's needs as well - it's something to be worked out - together in whatever way THEY see fit.....

Spilling guts always bad.

Being straight forward always good. If the person can't handle the straight forward you don't need 'em.

Thank you to all who responded and with the very sound advise.
I called it off but kept it private as I did not feel this person needed to know all of the details (due to the complexity). Simply addressed that my personal life was a mess, and I believe he understood.
Too bad it had to be so confusing for me. He is really a nice guy and I want to meet him...but I cannot...just now.
Thank you again everyone! flowerforyou You are all so kind!

There were no lies involved...just kept the sordid details to myself although there were many questions as to what happened. I simply spared that stuff as I thought it was unnecessary.

I hope it all works out for you in the long run. I know how hard it is when you really want to meet someone and things just dont work out. Maybe you can remain friends with him and when things are better, then you can meet him.flowerforyou

Thank you for the note of confidence, but it already appears to be superfiacial and all talk. Sei la vie...i was looking when I began this venture and not so sure about the solidety of website communications anyhow. Extremely superficial and apparently surreal to many.
Oh well, back to the real world and meeting someone face to face without the facade of the internet...LOL
