I saw it last night and LOVED it! I'd seen the play in Denver and Las Vegas, so was anxious to see if the movie measured up! It was great!

Although it won't win any Oscars and the singing wasn't always the greatest, it was charming, funny, entertaining and just what I needed! A great feel-good movie, especially if you don't take things to serious and love the music of ABBA!

I give it two thumbs up and a think everyone should "Take a Chance" on this movie....

I haven't seen it but, I really want to..................

I saw the play here a few years ago. We have a really good theater district in MPLS. I paid a pretty penny for nose bleeds seats for me and my friend. We got all decked out. I wore a dress w/ heels. It was a blast. I thoughly enjoyed myself despite the bad seats or because of them....LMAO.

Anyways, I have this fear of stairs. Certain type of stairs - like those at the circus where you just know that you are going to fall.

Our seats were way up in the balcony & we had to climb these stairs (w/o any railings). All the way up to my seat, I kept telling myself in my head, "F$%*," with every step that I took. During intermission, I did not leave my seat (despite how badly I had to pee) because I was afraid that I would not make it back.

At the end of the play, when they begin really cranking out all the ABBA songs, everyone in the audience was standing and dancing. I got up. With one hand on my seat, I stiffly moved by body back and forth. I looked like a friggin icle that was about to fall.

Anyways, my friend and I had a really good time & laughed about my tiny itty bitty fear!

I hope that everyone has enjoyed the movie as much as I enjoyed the play!

Isn't it funny how music can get us to do things we normally never would...like pay to see Pierce Bronson sing or climb tons of stairs!

I'm lucky in that we had front row, center seats for the play in Denver and were able to look right into the orchestra pit. Like you, Alexiateigra, we were on our feet and dancing at the end. That's what I loved the most....the music freed everyone to just be themselves, be happy, and be in the moment. I even got my groove on at the movie theater last night, swaying in my seat and singing along!! Way to fun.....even if I looked like a goof! laugh

Same here KTF. There is just something about music that brings us all together. The Jazz festival just came to end here in Minnesota a few weeks ago and it was blast as well.

I got to see a Charmaine (sp?) Nerville (sp?) live in concert. She is awesome. They are good performers, but she is more than a performer. She is a person that loves music, loves people, and loves to share music with people.

At the end of her concert, everyone was dancing, waving a white hanky (or napkin) or umbrella. If I did not know better, I thought I was in New Orleans instead of Minneapolis, MN.

So, if you ever get a chance to see, I highly recommend it (regardless if your Jazz Fan or Not). flowerforyou

Thanks for the recommendation, Alexiateigra. I love jazz and the blues! In the last few months I've been able to see both BB King and Etta James, which were both wonderful experiences. I will check out Charmaine Neville though.

However, in the interest of full disclosure...I do have Foo Fighter tickets too! Oye ~ Mamma Mia!!!laugh laugh

Went to see this movie tonight, I was the only one in the theater for the late showing. So I had a private showing!! I got to sing and bop around in my seat and not have to listen to anyone telling me to cut it out!!!!

It was a pretty good movie, the actors shouldn't quit their day jobs to become singing stars, but they had fun, and that is what counts. (Just watch Rocky Horror again and see how bad a singer Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon are, but it is a cult classic, and so will this be------just without people throwing things at the screen)laugh
