Team A
Guy who ran unopposed in state legislature
Perennial presidential candidate failure

Team B
War hero and veteran legislator with independent streak
Most popular state governor in America

Amazing

Bows theatrically, laughing.....

Obama should never have been nominated to run for
president. It is a testament to the complete failure
of our political system that the "best" the Dems could
do as far as candidates was Hillary and Obama. But
Hillary was by far the better choice between the two
in terms of real ability to lead and govern.

Likewise - how could it be that the GOP's top choices
were McCain and Romney? Where are the other potential
leaders of our country...and Romney was never even
close to being a serious contender!

The only reason that Dems have the slightest chance
this year is the appalling abysmal and completely
predictable failure of W who wasted a generation of
money and potential and discredited the GOP beyond
belief. Even with all that GOP baggage, and a 3 to 1
advantage in the campaign contribution warchest wampum,
McCain is now leading in the polls to become our next
president.

noway

Well - be careful what you ask for...

You just might get it...

laugh

Who says who is better? Who is making the claim?

Because better to save face, and dwell less on the facts he is there.
He is not there by accident, he is there by 'purpose.'

Speeches are nice, but they are simply a speech without base of fact. You stating it is so, does not make it so.

Statistical/actual facts -more then opinionated reasoning goes much further with people that are educated.

Well - Myself and those 13 million some odd who voted for Hillary Clinton in the primaries make the claim that she was better.

laugh

But it is an easy argument to make given Hillary Clinton's greater experience in life and as a legislator and her demonstrated ability to cross the aisle and compromise.
What has Obama done which makes him qualified to be president? Nothing. He was elected to the state Senate on the strength of disqualifying his opposition who obviously would have beat him in the state election if it had come to a vote.

whoa

He couldn't even win THAT election a few years ago!

laugh

But I will agree that Hillary is also not a GREAT candidate.
Where were the real established leaders in this election?

noway

It's incredibly embarrassing that Obama is there "on purpose". He has virtually no credentials!!

The fact is that the Democrats nominated someone with very little experience to be their candidate against a much more qualified opponent, snubbed a more popular and more capable alternative candidate in Hillary Clinton and squandered the opportunity of a lifetime in the wake of the monumental failure of G. W. Bush's administration. Now they are going to have to come from behind to win it!

I believe Hillary received over 18M votes... I do think a Clinton-Obama ticket would have been the strongest for Democrats, but Obama had a better organization and executed a better strategy. For him to defeat the Clinton machine is a testament to his ability to select good people, lead and execute.

Obama supporters did an effective job of campaigning against Clinton but the whole process was severely tainted by the MI and FL fiascos which delegitimized the primary process in my opinion. Making speeches, raising money and promoting yourself does not qualify as governing ability however as far as I am concerned.

Stating opinions does not make it so.

Is Palin the most qualified person that McCain could have picked?

I am embarrassed that he picked Palin. Can you imagine her as our President? It can happen. He is 72 years old and had cancer four times.

I believe if they become President and Vice-President, he has put our country in jeopardy in the event that he would die.

Other countries must be laughing at us, IMO.

We have not stood in other countries good light for a while thanks to the tyrant we have in office now.

As for his selection, he has shown us how really unreasonable he is by this choice.

The United States is facing some very critical economic challenges and nearly every day, there is more bad news. The latest being the Fannie Mae Freddie Mac government takeover and unemployment jumping to 6%.

Fixing the economy is an extremely complex problem.

If you were to hire a team to fix it, who would you choose:

Team A
Harvard Law School Graduate
History, Political Science & Law School Graduate

Team B
Military school bottom of class
University of Idaho journalism major

Awwww...man...such a tough question. Hmmm...let me THINK.

Team A it is!!

actually winx with all due respect.....
their has never been a senator elected to presidency.....why?? because they do not have the management skills to run a buisness let alone a city.

With respects, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson come to mind. Know there were more.

As for experience. One of the challenges of leadership is to bring people of diversity together for a common goal. Barack Obama worked as a community organizer on the southside of Chicago. I have lived in that area and am aware of the diversity of cultures, economic status, and job prospects. He has lived and worked in the trenches of American Society. John McCain has not. Obama can relate to the common person. McCain cannot.

McCain's choice of Palin was a brilliant move that re-energized the Republican base. To me, she's a joke, but she's not a joke to a lot of people who buy the Republican fantasy. Is she qualified? I don't believe so.

I remember when Ronald Reagan ran for president, I thought he was a joke -- plus which, I could NEVER find anyone who would admit to planning to vote for him. Well, he got into office and the country's been in the crapper ever since.

The Republicans are BRILLIANT strategists. They know before the American people do what kind of fairy tale we want to be told, and they have people like Sarah Palin to tell it. Leave it to the Dems to exhort us to follow the better angels of our nature -- no one wants to do that! Republicans embody and enshrine the worst we can be, dress it up as virtue, and win, win, win.

When will we learn?

I thought it was a joke when I first heard about her being a V.P. candidate also. Now I feel like it is all a bad dream.

Is there someone more qualified than McCain? Than Obama? Of course there is. And I am sure they are not politicians. My point was this whole topic is pretty pointless. You can't make them change who they picked.

Hmm, more qualified, I can tell you that none of the crap the 2 parties are presenting are anything near as qualified as Dr. Paul is, but you see what the NeoCons did to him, they were and still are terrified of the Good Dr.

And on the not so funny note, if McCain by some weird happenings(thinks back to butterfly ballots) gets in.. and croaks over-ya know he isn't the healthiest guy to ever run, or the youngest- actually the oldest I believe. And a health history that anyone should be really worried about. He can't lift his arms above his head- he has to have some severe rheumatoid arthritis going on- to add to all the other stuff- well not to speculate, but he is old, and if he croaks over-
good ole' soccer mom will become President. Which is hardly a laughing matter.
No matter what anyone says- No one can believe she is able to run the country. That is unrealistic. And I am disappointed that anyone would support this choice. The Senior Repub. should of stopped him from doing that. This is our country geez. Are you kidding me with this? Set aside all the gossip and meaningless ridicule, she is not qualified to be in that position.
Gosh I heard numerous people say it sounded like a nightmare Disney movie coming to real life. And it does. Soccer mom is president. :/ This is not funny in the least. My daughter is going into the Military next year and I'm worried. :/
I might beg her not to go if McCain gets in to the White House.
jeez all mighty :/ :/

Cali,

You are so very right. That is what is so scary about all of this. McCain put our country in jeopardy with his choice of V.P. if he gets elected. He has the age and health issues and she will replace him. It is scary to think of her being the one to answer the red phone in the middle of night. Our world is too unstable for this to be happening.
