Before I would purchase a Wii.. I would find out if they've worked out all their bugs!

Personally, I think I would purchase the PS3.

I say the Wii.
But really it depends on the games they play and what they're more interested. Cause both are lacking in really awesome games, me thinks. So I don't deny the awesomeness of Mario Galaxy.
So for me, I bought a Wii first and will eventually buy a PS3 maybe. I like Wii sports too.

Gotta agree with what they like to play. At their age, I would suggest Wii. A bigger variety of fun games that include family participation. I prefer PS3 cuz I am a serious Gran Turismo player.I would like to get online and put my money where my mouth is!!!

The bowling is a blast on the wii, if they get one, put a see through shield up in front of the tv just in case the controller goes flying lol, i prefer the ps3 though.

if i was the kid the PS3, as it is more expensive.

But i like the wii better, as it is much more unique than the ps3.

My kids are 6 and 5 and LOVE the Wii. I would suggest that. It's cheaper and keeps them more active.

Wii is good for the younger... PS3 is a good deal as it plays blu-ray.. ;P and for the older, bloodier games.. :)

Well, I personally just bought a wii and couldn't be happier. The graphics are not as good as the other next gen systems but the games are where it is at. I own 8 wii games and they are all great.

I also love the ability to play old school nintendo, supernintendo, sega, N64 and gamecube games on it as well.

One other thing, the wii is great for using up energy, I can play video games with my kids on a rainy day and feel like we've ran a marathon.

Get the Wii now, and save up for the ps3 next year!

Que? What bugs? I have no issues with the Wii, and Im a game developer =)


To the original poster:
It depends on the games you let them play. PS3 tends to lean more towards the M rated games (violent, graphic, etc). If you don't care what kind of games they're playing, asking them what their favorites are.

Me personally, I would say if they already have an XB360, getting a PS3 is very redundant, as most of the same games come to each system and look similar. The Wii is drastically different, focusing on interactivity and movement, and most importantly - gameplay instead of High Def graphics.

I think a Wii might be better for them as it is aimed more at group gaming.

Personally I think that the PS3 is the better machine in terms of graphics etc., but the Wii is just so much damn fun!
