I have a pretty informative profile, or so I think.

But one of my pet peeves is when a person with no info in his profile messages me wanting to know all about me. But don't give me any information to go from as a starting place regarding them.

Absolutely true. 99% of the profiles I've read are less informative (and less interesting) than the expiration date on the Twinkies package.

I don't know, Lex!! I think it is interesting about the expiration date on those Twinkies!! Makes me wonder what people are really ingesting when a baked good can last 2+ years!!!

One of my pet peeves is when all anyone wants to say in a hello is all about my looks, say I'm hot or whatever, and how they want to get to know me FROM THAT!!! I'm so not about looks. There are too many gorgeous people out there and looks fade, comes off as shallow. A compliment on looks is nice, but if that's ALL they use to want to get to know me, it's no deal. Maybe they just don't know what else to say to introduce themselves!!

I agree that it is quite annoying when people have that useless "Just ask if you want to know" just in their profile but nothing else of any use - or they have that and cannot even answer whether they smoke or have kids, etc

plus seriously how many guys feel that all first emails to someone must start with "so what's your favorite movie?" I know I see at least one a week, and if your profile says nothing and you start with that question you have just given yourself a one way ticket to my delete button

And as for the whole, "If you want to know, just ask," business, it drives me nuts. Don't they know what we need SOME information just to come up with a line of inquiry?

well if you want to know more about them then email them and maybe they'll tell you more about themselves. mine is short because i just dont feel like boring someone with a 100,000 lines of the same sh!t thats just about on every other profile.jmo oh yeah and it'll give that person something to talk about if you do email them.

I never understood that part, either. What are we supposed to ask ABOUT? I've got nothing to work with.

I always thought the whole point of a profile was to create interest, not to prove oneself to be duller than gray paint drying on an old barn.

That's how I feel about emails too, "HI" WTF am I supposed to say to that?

No...No....NO! The best ones are those that have all text speak in them, are written with a bunch of sentence fragments, or typed IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, or say the same ol song and dance of...

"Hi. I don't really know what to put here, but here goes. I am 33. I like camping, walking, movies, concerts, cooking, spending time hanging out with friends, and oprah. I'm funny, witty, nice, and want to meet a "nice person" as friends first. Okay, that's all."

I see these profiles and I just shake my head. Mine took me all of 30 minutes to be creative and do. I don't feel it would kill people to take 30 minutes to write something clever. Or, maybe it would and I just am a geek like that (shut it Lily!).

I get a lot of that. People telling me if I want to know more about them to just ask.

I am sorry. I don't ask. And if you feel as if you are too good to talk about yourself without being provoked, get off your high horse.

Next time someone tells me, "Anything you want to know, just ask" I am going to go ahead and ask "So, do you enjoy smearing yourself with peanut butter and masturbating in the jam?"
