you are looking at the wrong tag whispers..
Best Idea for you is go to best buy and talk to them they will tell you
what you need, but more than likely you would need a new puter...

Well right now I am running a Pentium 4 with 2.39 GHZ 512MB of RAM DVD
burner, 100 gig HDD split. Two hard drives one is a 20 gig the other is
a 80 gig. I believe I have Directx9 but am not too sure. So if anybody
knows how to find out please let me know. And I also do not know how to
find out about the sound card thing either.

Thank you fanta. But I do not so well with going to places like that and
asking. That is why I brought it herelaugh

Thanks, Droxfo! Its always good to go to the source. Anyone thinking
of installing Vista on their current hardware might want to also read
this article, which suggests Microsoft may not be giving the best
advice:

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/06/15/windows_vista_hardware/

Here's an excerpt:
-----------------------------
No doubt you've visited the Microsoft Windows Vista webpage, and
possibly you've run the evaluation tool to check whether your PC is able
to run the version of Vista that will fulfil all of your needs.

In which case, the odds are that you're sitting there chuffed to mint
balls, happy that your 800MHz CPU, 512MB of memory and DirectX 9
graphics card mean that you're good to go, while a TV tuner card gives
you full access to Windows Vista Ultimate.

Think again...

Also read the small print in the license agreement....Microsoft can
remove any software they deem inappropriate, yet they fail to define
inappropiate mad

to test or check version of directx just go to run and type in
dxdiag.exe.

Yes!!! Hopefully there will be a consumer backlash of some sort, and
Microsoft will change their position on this. As it stands at this
moment, though, I find this -very scary-.

Even my anti-virus software will at least *let* me turn it off. Who
wants to give away control of their own computer like this?

I am VERY over protective over my computer. If that is the case with
Vista they can keep it and shove up there (insert nasty word here) What
right does Microsoft have to do that? It has nothing to do with with
them what programs I have on my computer.

Thank you I am running DirectX9. This is a cracked version of XP Pro so
I am sorta scared to do different things with my computer just in case I
get caught. If I lost my Operating system I would pretty much be
screwed. I have heard of that happening before. Microsoft found out that
it is not a legit OS and they wipe it out!

they have done this with previous versions...i used to use a packet
sniffer called wpe pro to read packets being transfered between me and
any site...the program was made inoperable by service pack 2 since it
also could be used to edit packets and mess with servers.get used to
that,or get used to another os..which is right where im atgrumble
laugh

I do not think I could get use to another OS. I have been using XP for
so long it is kinda apart of melaugh

I don't like being limited with my OS either. Really the only way that
microsoft is not going to rule your entire digital world, is to not use
windows. I prefer linux.Stable, secure, no limitations. I like XPpro
myself, but linux does rule.

Good Morning,
Thats the right tag Whispers. Like I, you are right on the edge of
compatibility. You could spend less than a hundred dollars, and upgrade
to vista. Im going to wait till they get the bugs out.I cant hardly do
everything that Windows is able to do, what do I need with Vista. Id
just be totally lost all over again. LOL
