I mean about people who put pics of there kids up, and are the ones who
go around meeting whoever they can in real life from the internet,
needless to say this resulted in one of my friends becoming molested by
her moms "dates" on many occasions.

and the people who arent as smart as lulu are going to be just as
careless in their day to day life... has nothing to do with the net...

Im just saying perhaps the people of the website have a responsibility
in this case.

I see nothing wrong with putting your childrens pics on your profile. I
am a single father and I am protective of my children but I'd say this
is a tad overboard.

oh and autumn people that go around meeting whoever off the internet or
otherwise is the root of the problem maybe if these people closed their
legs and took care of the children less scenarios of sexual abuse would
probably take place.

From the standpoint of someone who is not a parent and never will be:

People post pictures of lots of things -- if it isn't a pic of them, it
could be a car, or a drawing, or a pet, or their kids, or the text of a
phrase they like, or a caulking gun.

Whatever it is, it tells me a little bit about them. It gives me a
little bit of insight into some aspect of their lives -- they like (or
own, anyway) a certain kind of vehicle, they have a certain kind of pet,
a certain product or TV show or phrase that appeals to them, for
whatever reason.

I don't differentiate between someone who uses a pic of their kids and
someone who uses a pic of their car or pets or a cartoon character, or
whatever. It's all a part of their perception of their own lives.

Others have pointed out the flaws in the argument that this practice
could be dangerous for the kids in the pics, so I won't belabor that
point.

So you are saying just because we post pictures of our children we are
bad parents?

My understanding was that she was suggesting a JSH policy to protect
children, first acknowledging that *some* parents are bad parents. I
don't see anyplace she says that picture-posting parents are worse than
other parents. I just see her saying that amongst picture-posting
parents, SOME of them may be bad parents.

It is a bad idea! ........Do you want pervs staring at your child? And
that is the minor of it.

What are people trying prove with a pic of a child on their lap etc....

oh Look I'm a good dad.

I'm proud?

Which is fine but, not for cyber!!!!!!!huh

why would i care if a perv stared out my kid's pic...from across
cyberspace? how would that affect my children?

it won't. the same sickos are in your local wal-mart, and looking from
between the racks. as long as there's no contact, or no
knowledge...they remain unaffected by these people.

Picture posting... I can understand the veiwpoint of there being people
out in the world looking to take advantage of children. I also know
that sometimes having children scares away some of the people who don't
want the responsibility. However, when grown adults post some pictures
of themselves in provactive poses I wonder how many think that they are
putting themselves out there for rapists and all kinds of strange people
to gawk at. As for my space, as a parent with teens, I can't believe
what kids are allowed to post. I haven't noticed any pics like that
here, but I would be opposed to minors posting provocative pictures of
themselves.

Unfortunately the world we live in isn't always a nice place for ANY of
us. I know in the dating world, parents do have to be very careful of
who is allowed to meet their children and when the right time is.
