I don't think so. They might be too high to find someone less than the man (or woman) of your dreams, but I'm not sure I could be happy with less. Personally, I think that there is more than one truly compatible person out there for everyone. There is no such thing as One True Love because there are several. Obviously, the lower your standards are the more options you will have...

I have a dear friend that insists I am going to end up an old maid because I won't settle for less than what she calls my "P.U.D.M". That would be Perfect Unobtainable Dream Man. I'm thinking of posting my description of my P.U.D.M on my profile. I'll never receive another email! laugh

I think if you lower your standards, the ones that really matter to you, then you are going to be kicking yourself there on out and that doesn't sound like fun to me.

Never retreat. Never surrender. Put your demands up. It'll be worth it.

I don't think it's really a matter of high or low standards... more to the point, they are YOUR standards. What might work for you is something that might not work for a friend, family member, random stranger... etc.

What might be picky to someone is flippant to someone else. I wish more people could wrap their brains around the idea that one person's toe in the water is another person's cannonball. . . .

they might be set so high that you never end up with anybody.

i'm not saying that i'd compromise on the values that are very important to me, but i can certainly let some stuff slide.

There is absolutely nothing wrong
with having standards. So long as
the standards aren't set so high
as to put unreasonably high
expectations on someone. At which
point "standards" would come across
as nothing more than hypocrisy.

Keep it realistic, and you'll do
fine.

I think most people set their standards too high & keep themselves from ever finding anybody..but that's just my opinion:smile:

I believe that if you are looking for the perfect person then yes your standards are way to high. Since that person doesn't exist. I will not compromise my ethics or belief's since I will not settle. I will compromise on pretty much everything else.
