Then the real people who choose to (& have the right to) not post a pic get looked at with the shifty eye...I know cuz it happened to me here when I first joined...& INTENTIONALLY decided not to post pix untill I was sure I wanted to be a member here...

Geeesh, I didn't mean to open a can of worms. I was merely responding to a valid question and problem with a possible solution with options.
I know that some people don't want to divulge personal information, and that is why the opt-in function was suggested. As well, I suggested that M2 offer a background check link for a small fee, but they must obtain the subject's permission first... it is just an idea... I'm not sure what the legalities and privacy issues would be, I was just suggesting possible options that might be additional features offered for members so they could feel safer with online dating... I'm almost sorry I brought it up. But I must say too, I have been a victim of some very nasty pranks, lies, games, etc. It would be nice to have options or links offered that I could choose to take advantage of or not. That was why I posed the question, to see what others thought about it. I've been seeing many comments about the "fakes", "scams", liars, etc. on here and other sites... that's what started me thinking about possible solutions or options. Regardless... we must be cautious and ask questions before meeting someone in person. Just my opinion. Re: the sign-on date... I just joined before Christmas, so does that make me look suspicious because I'm a newbie?? That's so sad because I could not be more open and honest in my profile. |

With all these fakes running wild in here and harrassing others and basicly slandering the good folks on here who are real and honest, maybe it is time to prove your identity before an account is allowed to be opened. A hassle I am sure, but would it not be worth it to all involved to be able to trust that you are interacting with who you think you are interacting with? Just my opinion, but there are already those who have been hurt by this. Would you like it to be you next? The cost of purchasing/leasing said software required to "verify" people as they join the site, would greatly increase the odds of this becoming a premium pay site. If someone is being harassed by a fake profile, I'm sure that we all know the route to take in reporting it to the Administrator or Moderators of the site. If one becomes so paranoid, that they suspect everyone else is a fake, perhaps it's time for them to take a break from the internet. |
