(Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)

Joe, the average worker says;

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their lazy butts, doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along, though . . . Something has to change in this country -- and soon!!!!!

guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.

I only had to take a urine test to get in to where I work. The only time I would need to take another drug test is if there was an accident. Some states are an at will state meaning you work where you work because you want to. I don't think that at will states should require drug screening for welfare, because not all employers require drug screening.

I smoke dope

I won't quit for anyone

I won't work a job that requires a urine test

and I don't care who does or does not like it

Politician's won't even touch this one.

This is called a viral email type of message.
Saw this last year. If you google urine or out you will see that it has spread to every blog, in the world.

Interesting concept, would be tied up in courts for years.

I don't think we need anymore Big Brother watching what we do. I could see crime going up with that one. Like we don't have a war going on here with all the murders there are. Could go on and on.

I've been working since I was 18, and in thirty years of working I had never been asked to take a drug test. Then I was asked twice in one week -- from two different places I had applied to. The place where I work has random drug testing. I've never been chosen, but it would not be a problem if I was.

I think it depends on the type of employment you choose to do, if it nessitates drug testing. Me I have no problem being tested and have been for employment purposes.

They reason this was posted was not as a drug issue but because people on welfare do not have any qualifications to receive it. H*ll you do not even have to be an American citizen to get it!

I think this is on topic for the Joe letter.

From my workplace, a 12 year old THIRD generation family living in housing says to me when we are discussing the 8 embryo quints being born, "I don't think anyone should tell her how many babies she should have"

Other boy who joined in, not in her same family dynamics, said, "Thats disgusting, nobody can take care of that many kids at one time"

For employment purposes, yes, I'd say it would be all right.

Qualifying people who deserve to have "transitional" assistance and thats a very key word...it was meant to be temporary help from the Government, now handed down from generation to gereration.

SORRY, dan and hg....
Housing and the welfare and the welfare qualifications and mentality that arise from it are in the "AVERAGE JOE" urine testing statement. It is saying that welfare people do not have to be tested, and they qualify without and spend Uncle Sam's dollars and are NOT requalified on the basis of whether or not the family member is a drug abuser.

I know what you mean but there are major abusing going on. I have to scrimp to make ends meet and they are standing in line with steaks, shrimp, large cakes and there food stamps. I am behind them with my peanut butter and jelly. [and that has gone up]. There are people that aren't even US citizens that draw welfare, and now they are going to be able to draw Social Security and they have never paid a dime into it! This is my complaint.

OK.........For the employer I can see the requirements. Insurance and liability. AS for the people on the benefit of state and federal. The social workers will plead that they need drugs and they are helping keep society as a whole functioning. It's a vicious cycle. To eat there own.
