no, I don't think he is either. in fact, he can't be. because our government was designed with checks and balances, it's made it so one person does not have complete power. even though the president has a lot of power, he(no matter who he is) cannot fix this nation alone. not to mention, IT'S NOT JUST US. the whole world right now is in an economic "recession".

As I mentioned in another thread, Obama will not be the one to solve all of our problems, and we most likely not see our economy smooth out for quite some time. from what i know, and this is just a guess, america will probably go through about 3 more presidential terms before we even begin to see light at the end of the tunnel.

we definately agree on this. funny though....i have been saying this same thing even before Obama, but no one seems to see this except for who they voted for

well, I just started realizing all of this stuff within the past year. this was my first time voting, and I didn't want to make a vote not knowing anything about what's going on in the world. Now I love politics.

lol. my college english class is doing argumentative research papers, my classmates sighed when they found out I was going to do mine on the AIG bailout. they tried to convince my instructor to not let me do it, claiming that it was too easy for me to argue politics. TBH, I haven't been keeping up with the whole AIG thing.

I think they pay more than their share JMO

 Its not my problem that Bush and the republicans wrecked the economy. Time for the rich folk to be patriotic. They can suffer a little just like the rest of us.

You are wayyyyyyyyy off!The rich is what keep this country going. You could probably take all the middle class, and poor taxes in the United states and add them up and that wouldn't even come close to the taxes Exxon pays in one year.Someone making over $1,000,000 a year gets taxed at 34%.Obama is going to increase that to 39%.Could you imagine making a billion dollars and having almost 40% go to taxes?Although I am not on the side of the rice people, they pay more than their fair share of taxes and I think they should pay less. With out the rich this country would end up like Mexico.

you do realize that roughly 70% of the nation is middle class, that other 30% being mainly made up of lower class.

Do your homework before you complain about President Bush, these issues didnt start with him they started with Clinton when he passed legislation to try and "get everyone into a house." In fact, President Bush was one of the people who looked at the Fannies and Freddies and said that something wasn't right. Its not his fault that Nancy Pelosi and the Leftist House and Senate were opposed to looking into it. And yes the rich do benefit from society but the poor benefit far more, in a country that is built on pulling one's self up by his own bootstraps why should the rich have to subsidize the lives of the poor?

Thank you!Bush tried I believe 13 times for regulation on freddy and fannie and they were all rejected!

this wasn't directed at me, was it?

No, it was directed at the man who said that rich people should pay more taxes because they benefit from society as well, for some reason it didnt link to that though.

When will we get it in our minds to unite?

Unfortunately I dont see that anywhere in the near future. When our President is giving a national press conferrence and he refers to the republican party as "they". Doesnt seem like he is looking to unite us.

I remember McCain calling Obama, "That one", during a debate. That was just wrong.

Ma'am I also remember President Obama calling Senator McCain John without first asking if that was alright. I also saw Senator McCain refer to President Obama as Senator Obama at all other points that night. If you'd like to get into a debate on whether or not something is polite you yourself should use the proper mannerisms (ie President Obama and Senator McCain). And, a debate is meant to illicit emotions which could result in someone being impolite. A press conference is not meant to do that and the president went in with his words already formatted. There is a difference between the heat of the moment and a preprepared speech.

I really believe that the mannerisms used were insignificant to the debate and the press conference. Mannerisms are formed by habit and upbringing, and should not really matter as long as a statement is coherently addressed to everyone it may concern. I'm not saying that one should not have to be able to speak in a formal manner, by all means, he or she should, but when a "they" or a "that one" slips out, well, let it slide. My president's mannerisms are irrelevant to the country's future, at least I hope they are or else we CAN blame our current predicament on President Bush. Let's not even start on his poor mannerisms.

As I have said before lets keep it in the current regime and what will be done about it now and moving forward. As for checks and balances they become removed when one party controls the Presidency, Congress and the House by majority to a certain extent. It doesn't matter how we got here, for that matter I could says it all started with Lyndon B. Johnson and the Ladybird regime. Please stay current and in the present looking forward to the future. Thank you. Will any of you posting be joining the protests in your area??

I brought up "they" because someone brought up us and them why not we. I I refered to President Obama when talking about his budget and he refered to the republican party as they. If we are going to have bipartisan politics mybe it should start with our President. Lead by example.

We are not here to discuss the pre-regimes, please remained focused to the topics. Lets us try and put aside our bi-partisan issues herre and move forward for a better America for our children. Let us try to focus on changing the hypocrisy of our government displayed on both sides. No side remains immune to the issues or what correlated the problems at hand. Remember, the present and future for our children. The mark we make now as a united people, may speak for our future generations.

Rich or poor... How cares.

Bottom line...

Congress received enough phone calls, emails, letters and angry comments that they KNEW americans by a vast majority DID NOT WANT ANY OF PART OF THE BAILOUT... (By some estimates 90% said no. Even the lowest estimates placed the number above 70%)

That is what the tea parties should be all about.

Congress choose to ignore The voice of all of us and do what they wanted to do.

That ammounts to NO REAL representation.

which is part of the reason we exist as a nation...

So put aside that partisian nonsense and lets get real.

As long as we can be forced to argue bout 'whos at fault.. '
We will miss the bigger picture... Which is IF WE DON'T DO SOMETHING ABOUT ALL OF THEM - we won't have a voice in our government.

It is time to cull the congress and senate and remove anyone not providing the US Citizen with the representation that is expected by all of us.

Problem is... I can only work on it from my state...

Yet we got states that continue to send rabid theives (even in the face of common sense and reason).

What good is a tea party...

If you ain't willing to back it up with a vote when the time comes.
