One of my sons serves in the military. He is still stateside, here in California . He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him and his troops everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands and thank them for being willing to serve and fight for not only our own freedoms, but so that others may have them also. But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the U.S. flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly, 'Yes, I always wear it and probably always will.' The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi. A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward. Putting his arm around my son's shoulders and nodding towards my son, he said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman: 'Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid. Everyone within hearing distance cheered!  GOD BLESS AMERICA! |

i'm not sayin she's right for her comments.. but she does have a right to them. thats life.
regardless i wonder how many family members and loved ones she's lost.. just like us. i mean who knows why shes so completely angry. you can sit here and be as patriotic as you want. but you never know the root of the pain unless you ask. i wonder what would have happened if someone would have asked her about her dead? just like we expect everyone to mourn for ours. i just sayin... |

Nice gesture, think they could say the same thing elsewhere, like perhaps Iraq? If people want to complain about this country, let them. We are fundamentally free because someone complained about their country and made changes towards it, change has never come from people who just say "it is okay"...change has come from people who look at the issue and say "this needs to change" and enact a plan accordingly. Who knows, maybe that lady will go on later and change the world for the better...or possibily she will just continue to complain without doing anything about it, of course then again, she probably doesn't know how to do anything about it. Don't teach people what our troops do, they are already biased towards it because of the news...teach people how to have a positive impact and change things for the better...far better in the long-run. |

I myself came from another country and speaks 5 languages but when I came to America, I learn how different, equal, free and lucky people are here compare to where the unstable countries are. People who never experience the life or to live in another country (especially the undevelop countries) can never appreciates and comprehend the life, suffering and the injustice over there. I love America and I would die for this country over my corrupt country... |

I must admit I have as well read this e-mail due to I have gotten it a few times in the past.
And honestly I was standing in a line at a small station one day waiting in line to pay for my gas. There was about 7 of us inline a man that was towards the front started his ranting and raving about the Military ect not per-say the war but the Troops themselves. Sorry but regardless I do not condone the War but I do fully support our Troops. I must admit that after he got through ranting and raving about the military and the USA I stepped to the side of the line and yes I did say what I felt was needed. I told the guy point blank if you don't like this country that we live in I'm sure some of those good ole Military Troops would gladly fly you over there and help you out of the plane...His remark was well I served this country and I have been over there already. Of course my words were well they should have left you there... The way I see it I did not choose this war but I do choose to live in this country therefore those around me no matter what race or where they came from should not blame me for what I do or who I feel the need to support in order to have the Freedom that we have. I feel for anyone that has to leave their country and home behind but if one makes that choice to live in the same country that I do then learn to leave the hate behind as well. For I will accept you for but you must accept me as well.... |

I support our troops whether or not I agree with whatever war there is. I can understand someone that has family members there or from that country being upset as well. I couldn't imagine my loved ones in the middle of a war. I'd be worried sick.
It could be all in the way someone says it. My dad died for this country so that we can have our rights. he believed in the constitution now if I heard it in person...I might react differently....it's hard to say how you'd react until faced with it. |

If these people hated us for supporting our troops who are defending our country and the freedom we enjoy then, they can go back to where the belong at any time.
Plain and simple ----> You do not like it here, then you are free to leave ASAP. You have to adjust the new environment and the society you live in and not us (AMERICAN) adjusting to your values and culture... and of course we do the same if we ever visit your country. It boils down to respect. Enuf said

Interestingly enough, most people in other counties like Americans, the people they know, or think they know via TV and movies.
They may say they hate the U.S. government, but they like Americans. Yes, what about her dead and wounded too? She is probably someone's: Daughter Sister Mother Aunt Friend Just like you. |
