Most of us are aware of the dangers associated with posting lewd and inappropriate pictures to Facebook. But what about the many family friendly photos you upload to your profile? Thanks to a relatively new Facebook decision, not even your well-thought-out profile pictures are safe. Cheryl Smith, a consultant who blogs at Culture Smith Consulting, raised the alarm today after her husband was served up an ad for "Hot Singles" complete with her picture!

Making me think that I need to take down my pics on facebook..hmmm...

Same here.....I've been thinking a lot about that recently. I have a ton of them on there. I choose the option that only friends can see them, but it sounds like they are being used otherwise.

That's true....I once found an ad for me on some weird site that I didn't belong to when I did a google search. Nothing is safe.

Edit: Like right now, if I google my user name here (which I use nowhere else)...I find my username attached to some random posting about victoria secrets lotion...sorry, not me!

Wow, facebook would go that far?
I don't accept any applications on there. I just have the basic profile to keep up with family and friends after being told to move it from myspace by most everyone. That's pretty crappy stuff. I don't do the applications and "fun stuff" on there as I have read the fine print and it clearly says they can use you, your likeness and ANY INFORMATION obtained through the use of those applications as they or their associates see fit. I don't know what they would do with "Which Brady do you most resemble", and I don't want to know. Too much stupid stuff on there.

I wondered why the "Do you want a new boyfriend" ads were of regular joes as opposed to stock and model pics. I looked at one ad front and thought, "Nope, not if he looks like that!!!" laugh laugh laugh

You can have photos on facebook as it does have the "opt out" area so you'd better go find it so you don't end up on a lipo, yellow teeth or herpes love dating ad!!! grumble
Like this lady, imagine how much explaining she had to do to her husband. And, hey, I'm not against those with herpes and their dating habits. But, as I don't have it, a photo of me as a representative would imply I do and I'm available. Not nice. This was a married lady!! That's just not nice or decent.

*** Anyone can take a pic of you in a public place ( for example a park) and use your photo. Many people have cell phone camera's and can take a pic without you ever knowing it. I think it is best to make sure you do not put up inappropriate photo's on the internet.

The internet dating sites are owned by very large companies, they are all connected in some way and can use your photo on their other sites. You have to read the fine print.

YOU TAKE A RISK on any site, it is all a choice.
