In my eyes there is a difference.
 Dating: maybe exclusive -- maybe not exclusive. There are a myriad of levels in defining the seriousness of a dating relationship. Unfortunately, too many people are not on the same page with one another. Courting: A beautifully traditional word that still has profound meaning to me. Courting is an honest, significant relationship bound for marriage; exclusivity at its purest form. |

Courting was a medieval tradition some nutty royal chick came up with. It's where our ideas about romance come from.
Basically it was a bunch of rules about how men should kiss women's butts if they wanted to get sex. It was NOT practiced between a husband and wife. But, was practiced when they cheated. Everything had to be very discreet. Reputations depended on it. |
