You're right, Sing, but it isn't guaranteed here either. Look at the auto industry. Ford, Chrysler and whats left of General Motors is mostly crap now. Honda and Toyota are taking over, as much as I hate to admit it, are simply building better quality cars. Then at the same time are doing it cheaper. From how I see it anyway, the employees just aren't as greedy and have better work ethic (for the most part).

Well, in the industry I work in, when jobs are outsourced, the quality of work tends to go down. Though, as long as companies are saving money, who cares. Right?

Seems to me, SOMEONE (ahem) was having a really crappy day on Friday and came here to vent and try to bully anyone who didn't agree with her. I really hope shes doing better today.

I do any chance I get, which really isn't often, but it does help to pass the time.

I believe that if you read through what you posted, you might realize why your employers wouldn't "give a crap".
"There are things i could be doing, its true,"

Stop right there and make sure you realize what you wrote.

"but in terms of doing what i am paid to do, i have done it all already.

But aside from all that. Who gives a crap?"

Absorb that one too.

" Most employees do not give a crap about their employees."

I am guessing you meant employers don't care about employees. And, with the attitude you admitted to above, it does make you easily replaced.

" Times get tough, staff get culled, and from what i have seen, in no real fair manner at all."

Perhaps the deadwood go first, regardless of rank.

" My employer would bend me over the desk and screw me right up the butt if they wanted to,"

Why are you so sure of this, if you are essential personnel?

" so im not going to reduce myself to a kiss arse and worry about whether my productivity levels could be higher or not."

That just sounded like a self defeating excuse for not doing better. Nope, I wouldn't exactly give someone who was doing the bare minimum as the kind of employee I would keep over another if there was any culling to be done. Also, disrespect garners same.
Sorry, but about all I have read in here are a bunch of excuses and attempts at justification that fall flat. And yes, I do believe that this is the attitude that has caused our country to become less competitive in the world market. Also where that lie about illegals doing jobs no American would because they are too pampered, lazy, and consider themselves above it.

oh be quiet will you.

Actually, i have to step in here and say, Dan does more in his job than any of the others....he is more pro-active when it comes to ideas and saving the company money....he is also 1 of the most efficient workers who is often asked to train up newest members. Dans job isnt an easy 1 in the sense of shifts and responsibilities.

He may mingle at work, but this does not stop him doing his job or it does not make him less efficient, it merely means he has windows of time where he can have a comp on in background to pass time.

Dan doesnt need to do any better than he already does, his company have benefited from his economic skills and he continues to develop his skills during his work hrs. He has saved them a lot of money and never been paid anymore for it.

Imo, if u have windows of time where u can become bored at work cos of the type of job it is, there is no real problem, and it doent make a person lazy.

It may be very unpopular, but I would fire any employee that brought their personal business to my place of business in ANY way. Just not appropriate, and not my problem, so I sure as heck won't be paying for it. And yes, I have fired people for taking personal calls during business hours. I give them the same rules my mother raised me with when she was working. "Someone had better be bleeding if you bother me at work."

If I need to take a personal call at work, I will! If my son has a seizure at school or is sick, you damn well can bet I'll be on my cell and on my way to the school.

There are exceptions to every rule! Just because someone takes 5 minutes to take a phone call or to hop online doesn't make them a bad employee. Geeze, lighten up! whoa whoa
