Actually you could make an IC engine without a wheel but then you'd only go back and forth.

like a wankel?

Mayans, and Aztecs, and Incas didn't have the wheel and they did okay

well at least until Cortez showed up

Actually they did have the wheel, they put it on their children's toys.

Gad's why be so complicated.

The basis of our modern society is actually the wheel. Yep, hands down humanity's greatest idea.

It's used to power the world through the turbines that generate our electricity. We use it every time we travel, the very concept of both the internal combustian engine and the jet turbine require the wheel.

Think of what wouldn't exist without the wheel, and we'd be still in caves.

Without the hammer, there would be no wheel.

Like a piston with a rod that's connected to a slide instead of a crank or flywheel.

If fact. Without the hammer, there would be no technology of any kind.

not nesacarilly the most important, mainly because it isnt fundamental, but i say:
atom bomb. how would the war of turned out without it?

With out beer there would be no incentive to work so nothing would have gotten invented.

Condoms are anti-men. Woman should try to get in our shoes. Stick up a ziplock bag before sex and just experience what it's like to wear plastic

The wheel only requires a downed log, which you can find on the floor of any forest without the use of a hammer.

The hammer is actually an extension of a previous invention, we called it the rock.

Can't believe you kids dropped the ball on this one.

The plow

With it man could suddenly have more food than he could eat. Thereby eliminating the need to migrate to seasonal pastures and hugely reducing the time required to gather enough food to feed ones self/family/tribe.

With the plow.....grain storages could last entire populations for not only seasons but larders could be stocked for years. time was freed up and being hunter/gathers became optional instead of mandatory.

The plow allowed mankind enough spare time to invent everything beyond what was required for hunting /gathering. The plow allowed enough time to civilized society that humanity could sit on it's *ss and use it's brain power to invent absolutely EVERTHING in our modern society.

Hold on......the room is spinning.....I think I just had an aneurism.

Whew.....all better. Anyway.....my second favorite invention....the carbonation process.....thank you Albert Einstien!!!!! Without it.....all beers and sodas would be flat!
