Texas should be a free independent country. It's like the size of Poland isn't it?

If that happened, you would have devastating economic fallout for both Texas and the U.S.

Texas already was a independent country

Texas is the only state allowed to fly its state flag at the same height at the Stars and Stripes because of that

Not so. They would have their own respective currencies/economies. We can predict this with reasonable accuracy due to historical precedent of secession experiences in the US and in Europe.

No one has more right to secession than do the original 13!
They formed the US, and then either bought or conquered to form the rest of the country.

correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Texas the only state that is self-sufficient as far as products like oil, produce, cattle, etc?

Are they?

Why did they request and lobby for years to be annexed?

How would we seperate?
Would we move all our offshore pipelines and storage tanks to Alabama?

NASA, Port facilities, Military bases?
Will we start taxing all their goods imported in to the US?

What would be left of Texas?

Who would protect them from Mexico?

What about all those men who died fight under a US Flag?

Talk of secession. LOL
Y'all are like a bunch of ungrateful children.

I doubt Texas could make it on their own.

That was going to be my next thing....even if we were the only self sufficient state....I don't think the resources would last long enough

Just closing all the Military bases and Gov facilities in Texas would send the Texas economy into such a tail-spin. They'd be listed in the CIA World fact book as a Third World Country!
