I think you can progress with any training program as long as your diet is on track.

I'm a semi-vegetarian and don't partake in "junk food or sweets" very often. I'm not looking to lose weight, I just want to tone up the bod! I'm not 20 something anymore and what to "stay in check"!

Thanks for the comment

Lost 17 pounds doing P90X, and I did not even follow the diet. Doing it now for the second time. Hate it, but love it.

The P90-X program is just a bunch of different workouts put into one training, based on the idea of confusing your muscles. It will work, physical work will get you into shape if you do it enough and do it right. I have a friend who used to program but the results really are not that great. Nearly all these "Tv Programs" try to sell it to you saying how good it is, how much better it is then the gym. Honestly, going to the gym, good diet, right amount of protein, right amount of sleep, and water, will do way more for you then this program ever will.

The main reason I say this is that this program focuses on using your own body and dumbbells to get into shape and to build muscle. It focuses on high volume of reps and low weight. This works your red muscle fibers, not the white muscle fibers. If your wanting to tone or gain muscle at all you want to work the white muscle fibers. This is how you grow the muscles. The white muscle fibers (slow twitch) can grow up to 22% in size. The majority of personal trainers agree that heavy weight light rep is what you need to put on solid muscle. It may work for you, but a gym would work better. You have more there and the atmosphere in a gym usually propels people to workout harder.

Haven't tried this program but sounds interesting. Makes sense to keep working different muscles as you shouldn't keep working the same muscles over and over from what I understand. Still trying to figure out this fitness thing myself.

I have it, dont really use all the cd`s anymore because ive taken the things that are still challenging to me and incorporate it into my own workout. But before I was only able to do about 12 pullups, after it ive gone up to 20 pullups, now im up to 34(without the P90X though) and many more area`s ive increased. Also it actually got me ready for bootcamp.

I dunno, the P90X Extreme Training Program looks tough.
Definitely not for the average Joe.
You'll definitely have results if you stick with it tho.
Just remember, being fit is a life time commitment.

It is tough but the benefits of the p90x are awesome. You will work hard and if you diet right you will get the results you are looking for. All I have to say is stick with it. It is hard but worth it if you do.
