Dear member,

"Today, we're releasing our annual report on the number of active hate and extremist groups in our nation. The figures are alarming, and I'm deeply worried about what this means for our country.

We've documented a 244 percent increase in the number of conspiracy-minded, anti-government "Patriot" groups in a single year. Militias — the paramilitary arm of the "Patriot" movement — were a major part of the increase. Like other extremists, "Patriot" groups have been fueled by anger over immigration, the troubled economy and an array of initiatives by President Obama.

This extraordinary growth is cause for real concern. During its 1990s heyday, the "Patriot" movement produced an enormous amount of violence, most dramatically the Oklahoma City bombing that left 168 people dead.

Racist hate groups are at record levels — rising from 926 in 2008 to 932 in 2009. The increase caps a decade in which the number of neo-Nazi, racist skinhead and other hate groups surged by more than 50 percent. We've also seen a sharp increase in "nativist extremist" groups — vigilante organizations that actually confront or harass suspected immigrants.

These three strands of the radical right — the hate groups, the "nativist extremist" groups, and the "Patriot" organizations — are the most volatile elements on the American political landscape. Taken together, their numbers increased by more than 40 percent, rising from 1,248 groups to 1,753.

There are already signs of a resurgence of radical-right violence like the kind we witnessed in the 1990s. Right-wing extremists have murdered six law enforcement officers since Obama's inauguration. Racist skinheads and others have been arrested in alleged plots to assassinate the president. Most recently, a number of individuals with antigovernment, survivalist or racist views have been arrested in a series of bomb cases. And, tragically, a man furious with the government crashed his plane into an IRS building.

With your help, we'll continue to track and expose these groups' activities and provide law enforcement with the information they need to keep our communities safe. Thank you, once again, for your commitment to stand with us as we fight the hate that threatens to divide us."

perhaps parents need to do more to raise citizens who respect each other and schools need to incorporate anger management as an elective alongside home economics,,,,,,,

This is fning hilarious..

We have had 3 left wing nutjobs committing terrorist acts in the last month.. And you have the balls to post this BS...

1. Amy Bishop... Killed 3 people at the University Of Alabama because she was refused tenure..

"A family source said Bishop, a mother of four children - the youngest a third-grade boy - was a far-left political extremist who was “obsessed” with President Obama to the point of being off-putting".

2. Joe Stack.. Flew his plane into the IRS building in Austin, Texas.. His unibomber style manifesto sounded like something coming from the religion haters here on mingle, and then summed it all up with ...

The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.

3.John Bedell.. The Pentagon shooter..

The Associated Press reports that Bedell was connected with a social networking page that believed the government was responsible for Sept. 11, 2001.

What a surprise.. A 9-11 truther..

The article is a misportrayal of the "Patriot movement". They are inspired by the likes of Ron Paul, and don't advocate violence. Unless you can provide some evidence, this part of the article should not be taken seriously.

I dont see racists everywhere, but I am aware of racial hate groups and people who take their hate to extremes with harmful action. To ignore racism would be as silly as to be obsessed with it, I just appreciated the information.

Pretty typical RW tactic...create a little grey area and call the whole thing BS...we have a rise in Oklahoma on KKK...we see the T-bag parties with their signs. FOCKS "news" and AM static are inciting hatred. It all adds up...

Anyone can visit this link below and see the extremists groups in their area. They try to hide behind a word like "patriot" but we all know their racist ways. The white "supremists" did a lot of recruiting at T-bag parties last year...we've seen many Stormfront types of people here on this site as well as many others...defending their racist ways...calling for another Civil War. Haters.

Here are the facts...not sure how anyone could dismiss this as a threat.

So let me get this straight.
If we are mad because nothing is being done about illegal immigrants,
if we are mad because the economy is n the tank,
and if we disagree with some of Obama's policies,
then we are racists and belong to hate groups.

My friend if those are the reasons your giving then I think you ought to raise the number because there are millions more than you've posted in your cut and paste article.

I think racism is all but dead in this country.I haven't heard so much as a peep from the KKK,the skinheads, the black panthers, and all the other famous racist originations in America in the last 10 years or more.We all know teachers can't even so much refer to a hispanic person as a "Mexican" with out threats of being fired.Racist jokes are not tolerated in any public places by the general public anymore even in comedy clubs.Racist humor is dead even in the movies.Yes there is still good ol boys out in them woods, and yes there is still black power brothers who blame whitey for everything but their days are numbered.

I agree with some of the other posters in saying this post is directed towards the exploding tea party movement.I don't think I have seen any origination receiving so much hate towards it as the tea party movement and Sarah palin in peticular.People don't just disagree with the tea party movement. They loath and hate them.

Racism hasnt died, it has just evolved. It is not as easy to know racists because they are (publically) more stigmatized, but I dont think they are there any less now than they ever were. I think most racists dont even realize they are racists( a very deep discussion for another day). Even in the height of jim crow laws,,,something like 90 percent of white/caucasian people didnt think there was any racial problem. I think it is because it is obviously much more difficult to know the things OTHERS have to deal with when they dont directly affect us. and most decent people want to think the best of the world they live in.

Racism is as alive and well as sexism and probably always will be,, just thank goodness that our government no longer blatanly enourages or supports it.

Racism is increasing in the UK where the media constanty fuel the fire with muslim this and muslim that with TV programmes appearing about day to day muslim issues, i for one am sick to death of it why not programmes on the disabled, jewish, christians and people who do good things in our communities not this dam lets try and understand the muslim culture 24/7 media coverage.
Its all well and good saying its a great thing that we live in a Multicultural society but when i look around i see towns and cities across the UK divided into white areas, asian areas, jewish areas, ect ect and i dont see a lot of intergration taking place, i actually see a country thats sitting on a time bomb and returning to the race riots that happened in the 1980's. "...and yes there is still black power brothers who blame whitey for everything but their days are numbered." Now that's showing true colors there.

So "racism is dead" in America yet this is said? That sounds like a threat....and BTW, the SPLC lists black radical groups as well, they report on the extremists in America that are becoming a threat to national security....regardless of race.

It's not a matter of being PC, it's about respect and I see less and and less respect for diversity in America. This IS fueled by the 24/7 media of hate radio and the GOP propaganda from FOCKS and of course the leftover GOP who oppose any progress in repairing the damages...absurdly thinking this will win them elections..Really?

For example the DC rally on 9/12 was organized by Glenn Beck, a known racist, and it's core is racist in nature. One only had to see the posters the people were carrying...plus the numbers were a joke, FOCKS reported a million+ and it was about 75K at the most...they even cooked the numbers to imply it was a vast movement. Wrong, it's just mostly a bunch of racist malcontents wanting to blame the people who are trying to fix the mess left over from the last 8 years that destroyed our economy....small numbers but yet still a threat.

If you guys want to claim that the T-baggers are not mostly a racist group then why did the recent convention feature this guy?

"It turns out that the Tea Party has more in common with the mainstream political parties than we may have realized.

They too are completely and utterly dysfunctional.

Kicking off their controversial national convention in Nashville last night, Tom Tancredo, the one time GOP Congressman, presidential candidate and confirmed wing-nut, presented the opening speech. To make certain that the event got off to the right start, Tancredo proceeded to give the most racist speech I can recall since David Duke, the Ku Klux Klan leader turned politician, amazed us with his vile dribble.

Ripping into Obama, Tancredo announced that the president had won his office because “we do not have a civics, literacy test before people can vote in this country.”

This was no accidental choice of words. Back in the days of the Jim Crow south, literacy tests were used to take away the right to vote from the majority of African Americans. It was a practice successfully employed to deny these rights from the late nineteenth century right on through to the 1960’s when it was mercifully ended by The Voting Rights Act of 1965, and one that continues to be one of the darkest stains on our national history.

But Tancredo was just getting warmed up.

People who could not spell the word vote or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House — name is Barack Hussein Obama.”
Via Fox News

But he wasn’t finished yet. He still had to point out that America’s problems are the result of the nation’s “cult of multiculturalism.” Tancredo basically did everything he could to make his racist point short of handing out copies of “Mein Kampf” and carrying a sign reading, “If you ain’t white, you ain’t right.”

I have never accused the Tea Party of being a racist movement. While I acknowledge that there are certainly those who identify with the group whose objection to Barack Obama is based on his race, it seems unfair to paint everyone in the movement – many of whom are upset with the state of the country and want to express their concerns – with so negative a brush.

But if these people want to be taken seriously, why would they waste the national stage they have created with this convention to highlight a racist like Tom Tancredo?

To be fair, there were those in attendance who get that. Mark Skoda, a founder of the Memphis Tea Party and a spokesman for the convention, was left shaking his head in amazement, saying “It doesn’t further the dialogue.”

You can say that again, Mark."

Glenn Beck a racist?rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl

Quite obviously many are paranoid over people such as Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingram, Bill O'Reilly, Tea Party supporters, etc...........heck, let's just put the entire FOX CABLE broadcasting system up here..............

People who are anti the above, just are plain paranoid over the fact that the people of the USA are sick and tired of what is being done to our country and are standing up and speaking out about it..............such is life.............

I view the hatred against such supporters, hate evidenced throughout this website forum on Politics, as supporters of obama and his little boy temper tantrum whenever he does not get his own way.

My God, how many times has obama cry babied, on national television, about Fox news and Sean Hannity? It is so repulsive of this man, obama, AND never have I ever heard any President, or other political figure, except obama and those that he keeps himself surrounded with and has associated with most of his life......come out and cry babied over a news media...............SHALL WE PITCH IN AND BUY OBAMA AND HIS CRONIES A SUPPLY OF BABY PACIFIERS?

I don't care what happens to the racist T-baggers/RW nutbag GOP corporate shill machine....as long as they NEVER again have the power to screw up the US. We've seen their agendas at work...two failed wars we were lied into that have bankrupted our nation and killed millions, wounded 10's of thousands...

The GOP are a wholly owned subsidirary of corporations acting only in the best interest of their profits over the needs of our people and the FOCKS "news" network is just a shill machine for them...liars, racists, and purveyors of total BS.

I have to question the intelligence of people who'd watch FOCKS. They certainly have NO clue of the realities facing us today. They live in another world...
