In color versus black and white.

Does enyone know where the reasoning that dreaming in black and white is common and color is rare came from. Legitimate info?!

Thanks, ~Kendra

Hummmmmmmmmmm Most people do dream in color, but some may not notice colors in their dreams. Because color is such a natural part of our visual experience, we sometimes overlook colors in our dreams. Another reason may have to do with how our dreams fades so quickly from our memory upon waking that when we may be able to recall the dream in shades of gray. However, the dreams that are in black and white can be an indication of a depressed or sadden mood.whoa

I always dream in vivid colors!

It's sort of like "cartoonish" colors

I do dream in black and white though. They are usually dark type dreams but not quite nightmares

but the b&w ones are usually the ones I remember:heart:

A bit of everything for me, though color is the most common.

I'm trying to find out where the rumor/myth came from saying that dreaming in color was rare, or linked to serial killers, and that everyone dreams in black and white. Seems to be an old wives tale, rather then anything legitimately based.

that assumption seems to go along with what we're viewing at the time. when color television was invented, dreaming in many hues became the norm.

apparently, our culture influences how we dream.

that's what we learned in shrink-class, anyhow...

Color. But sometimes a really nice sepia tone ...

I've had the sepia tone too. It was a cool dream!

Egads, my dream last night was hilarious. Literally. I woke up laughing. I think I've been watching to many action-adventures lately. I was driving a tractor, chasing some guy down the road. The tractor had a front end bucket and on of the hay spikes for the big round bales on it. This other person, who was helping me, no idea who he was, was sitting up front and had the bucket controls with him. We go flying out into traffic with people slamming on their brakes and they are flipping us off. He triggers the bucket so it raises up and the hay spike looks like it's flipping them off back. I start laughing in my dream and wake up laughing.

I don't know. I always dream in color. I don't remember ever having a black and white dreams. I usually remember one or two dreams from each night as well. I can remember colors, smells, feels, sensations, etc. I'm a very internal person, I don't know if that has anything to do with or not.

When dream, always in colour and very vivid and long. I decided that dreams (mine) last as long as real time, because they are, at times, exhausting. Like had did all that stuff going on for hours. Swear it's memories or living another life while sleeping.smile2
