so, you shouldnt show respect to world leaders when visiting their country because its weakness,,,but if ISRAEL is disrespectful to you, you should bow down,,,because.....

just an example of the hypocrisy in the world and how you cant please everyone,,,,

It was very embarassing and disrespectful, knowing the VP was coming to work with palestinians and israelis, to not forewarn him in ANY way of this new , possibly more divisive, decision.

Screw the palestinians

This is pretty much the mentality that is pointless to debate or try to reason with.

What a great thing to say during Easter and Passover.

Israel did not orchestrate this. Somebody made a routine announcement about a decision they make all the time which was perfectly in line with a policy they had in place for half a century. The U.S. had a big overreaction in a misguided attempt to show the Saudis how sympathetic they are.

This did not even surprise the VP much less insult him. If it surprised anyone in the Obama administration then that should be insulting to us. This was no new more divisive decision.

The reason there are no peace negotiations at this time is because the palestinians are refusing to come to the bargaining table without preconditions - in other words - the palestinians are not interested in peace talks at this time and external pressure will not produce any favorable results.

The current administration's inept efforts at coercing Israel to abandon their capital city actually make it less likely that the palestinians will sit down and negotiate. They are happy to let the U.S. fight with Israel while Hamas and Al-Aqsa commit terrorist bombings and incite violence. Great.

Reading 's1owhand's comments, you would think that it's everyone else's fault, and the list is most exhaustive, that Israel doesn't have peace.

'It's the terrorists fault', he will keep claiming like a broken record.

For those interested in a 'balanced' view, I strongly recommend you read 'ISRAEL'S SACRED TERRORISM', by Livia Rokach. A study based on Moshe Sharett's Personal Diary, and other documents. Moshe Sharett was Israel's second Prime Minister. 's1owhand' will probably rush to call him an anti-Semite, since Sharett's views do not agree with his own.

http://chss.montclair.edu/english/furr/essays/rokach.html

Here is a quote encapsulating Sharett's perspective and judgment of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict:

'... To all the Palestinian victims of Israel's unholy terrorism, whose sacrifice, suffering and ongoing struggle will yet prove to be the pangs of the rebirth of Palestine...'

So maybe 's1owhand' is right after all, IT MIGHT VERY WELL BE THE ISRAELI TERRORISTS FAULT THAT ISRAEL DOESN'T HAVE PEACE!!!

I'm sure militant's firing rockets into Israel unprovoked and at non-military targets violate quite a few rules. Just saying........

You'll have to come up with a degree of synthesis that goes beyond the dogmatic 'one-way-one-liners 'lpdon'.

The very large majority of world observers of this situation are not anti-Israel. But neither are they anti-Palestinians. The majority wants fair and just treatment for both nations.

The problem with the minority far right Israelis and their fanatical supporters, as it is with every fanatical fringe, where Israel, in their minds, seems to have every right, and can do no wrong ever, is that the perspective of this minority causes a fatal distortion of the situation, and results in a structural breakdown in any potential peace talk initiatives.

While no one with reasonable intent ever condones terrorist acts, the problem with the far right Israeli fanatics, is that they refuse to notice and recognize their own unacceptable abuse, and illegal 'SACRED TERRORISM' acts!!! Their numerous and ongoing violations of International and Human Rights Laws are innumerable over the 60 years since the landmark event. That definitely doesn't constitute 'reasonable intent'.

As you are doing 'lpdon', with this automatic and rather irresponsible rebuttal: the infamous 'it's all their fault!!!', the fanatic Israeli fringe is very quick to judge Palestinians and the rest of the Arab world, '... for the straw in their eyes, totally unconscious, it would appear, of the rafter in their own...'

It is clear we have come to a crossroad in this world-wide debate, where Israeli fundamentalists, whom have been driving this agenda, will have to be brought to account in their corrupted judgment, and be made to realize their inexistent ability to 'view' this situation fairly due to the 'huge rafter' in their eye.

If pushing for the construction of additional housing in illegally occupied Palestinian Jesursalem-East territory is seen as normal, and not as the extreme act of provocation that it is in the eyes of the rest of the world,
... then be clear that the Israeli fanatics and their supporters have long lost the moral ground in this situation, and have lost the right all together to denounce the terrorist acts of the other party as a justification for their own 'SACRED TERRORISM'.

The long list of trumped up U. N. anti-Israel singling out resolutions
only goes to show the bias and ineptitude of the U. N. as an institution.

But what further can you say about an organization who sponsors and
promotes antisemitic doctrine under the guise of its "Human Rights
Council"? It is a kangaroo court which long ago squandered any moral
authority it might have had even as it invites horrendous human
rights abusers to leadership positions within the organization!

That anyone would cite such garbage as true human rights reform, belies
a shocking disregard for fairness amid their support of human rights
abusers.

Be Different! Transcend the Palestinian Propagandists!

There are legitimate valid arguments for Israel's policies!

so, you shouldnt show respect to world leaders when visiting their country because its weakness,,,but if ISRAEL is disrespectful to you, you should bow down,,,because.....

just an example of the hypocrisy in the world and how you cant please everyone,,,,

It was very embarassing and disrespectful, knowing the VP was coming to work with palestinians and israelis, to not forewarn him in ANY way of this new , possibly more divisive, decision.

laugh

Furthermore here are a 'few' of Israel's violations of UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS, and International Law rulings, which 's1owhand' persistently keeps ignoring when discussing the Israeli-Palestinian situation:

So when the violations are so crude and obvious, and no intelligent argument or source could possibly justify them, you just throw ‘THE JEWISH VIRTUAL LIBRARY’ to amuse the gallery !?!?!?

Are you serious???

That would constitute YOUR credible and objective source of information???

Are you suggesting we should take the word of ‘THE JEWISH VIRTUAL LIBRARY’ over the International Court of Justice, or Moshe Sharett's???

Anti-Israel, Anti-Semitic and Anti-Zionists doesn’t constitute an intelligent answer. And throwing such complacently biased sources, certainly isn’t credible.

AND YOU SUGGEST TRANSCENDING THE PROPAGANDA??? That shoe seems to fit you 's1owhand'.

When does this travesty end???

Let’s look at what B’Tselem has to say about Israel’s Human Rights Violations. And please, should you choose to exercise your rebuttal privilege, make an effort this time to come back with some substance on the points raised. ‘anti-Semites’ and ‘anti-Israel’ rebuttals simply do not cut it???

B'TSELEM - The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories was established in 1989 by a group of prominent academics, attorneys, journalists, and Knesset members. It endeavors to document and educate the Israeli public and policymakers about human rights violations in the Occupied Territories, combat the phenomenon of denial prevalent among the Israeli public, and help create a human rights culture in Israel.

As an Israeli human rights organization, B'Tselem acts primarily to change Israeli policy in the Occupied Territories and ensure that its government, which rules the Occupied Territories, protects the human rights of residents there and complies with its obligations under international law.

Israel knows quite well that it's impossible to make 'peace' with an opponent whose concept of 'peace' is 'the peace of the grave'. Hamas, Fatah, Hezbollah, or any other muzziephilic hatemongers have no intention of making 'peace' with Israel. They. Want. Them. Dead.

Two words: Never Again.

They want all nonbelievers dead.........

Not true of all muslims though. That needs to be said.

with all due respect and this isn't an attack , you and Slow are ignorant to this issue. This has nothing to do with religion at all. It's a power /land grabbing on Israel's behalf and it's freedom on the Palestinian behalf. Right wingers seem to have this fantasy that Palestinian = muslim which isn't true...30 percent are christian and 10 percent Jewish. Israeli arabs are also persecuted. Palestine doesn't have an army which allows for zealots to use this issue an excuse to fight Israel. SO be it, as someone that has lived in that area, that comes from that area, and has witnessed the atrocities that go on, it's absurd how so many westerners are hoodwinked into believing that Israel are the poor innocent victims in this conflict. Jerusalem has no ties with Israel or the jews, it was illegally occupied, more land is being illegally occupied, and we will continue to fight and die rather than to live under an oppressive rule. The majority of jews in their govt aren't even religious nor do they have ties with that land. The European Jews have no ties to that land other than the origin of their cult which was in Judea at that. Take away religion and they have nothing.

From the long list of largely unproven claims of over-aggressive
checkpoint inspections...

March 6, 2007 New report: Crossing the Line
B'Tselem's new report is a unique study on the infringement of the human rights of the tens of thousands of Palestinian workers staying in Israel without a permit.

surprised laugh WHAT OUTRAGEOUS ABUSE! laugh surprised

hey - i agree that inspections and interrogations should be civilized,
orderly, respectful even. the palestinians have access to the court
system to address any complaints and it appears that they do actually
successfully bring charges when appropriate.

now i don't like to have to go through a detailed screening at the
airport - but i tolerate it because........ - well you know why.

there are rules about how such inspections can proceed. if these are
violated then there can be repercussions. however, such inspections,
or border inspections, checkpoints and other such indignities do not
compare with bus bombings or large scale attempts to murder innocent
civilians.

repetitive listing of complaints of abuse does not prove anything,
nor does it elevate the indignities to the level of mass murder.

about land grabbing - i suggest reading the illuminating account:

The Smoking Gun: Arab Immigration into Palestine, 1922-1931
by Fred M. Gottheil

http://www.meforum.org/522/the-smoking-gun-arab-immigration-into-palestine

this article correctly debunks the claim that the land was somehow "grabbed" by the israelis.
