OMAHA, Neb. -- A federal judge has overturned Nebraska's ban on flag mutilation.
Thursday's ruling is a victory for activists from a Kansas church who trample on the U.S. flag when they protest at military funerals. U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf said the state's flag-protection law can't be applied so long as members of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., otherwise act peacefully. Megan Phelps-Roper filed the lawsuit in July, saying the law violated her right to free speech. Westboro members protest at soldier funerals across the nation because they believe U.S. troop deaths are punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality. Apparently those a$$holes protested at the memorial of Breanna Denison, a local girl who was burtally kidnapped, raped and murdered.

protest is one thing, but to ruin a funeral for a fallen soldier is just bad. these poor people died for us, and to desecrate their funeral is just in poor taste.

I do not agree with the protests at the funerals at all.
The flag thing is no biggie. A flag is just a piece of cloth. |

I have been to Westboros website and these people are extremely crazy.They hate everyone.They hate America,the people,the world and everyone in it.There is no doubt these people are just using religion as a excuse to say what ever they want under the right to express their freedom of religion.Yet they show as much hate towards the church,the people,and the pastors as they do the gays.
In my life I have never seen a group of people so filled with hate towards everything in this country.They are dangerous,preach violence,and will likely one day kill someone if not many people.I hope they are locked up in a cell one day and will never see the light again. |

Wait until they have a protest, fly over with a crop duster and spray them gasoline then fly back over and drop a flare...problem solved. |

That's on top of all the political work I do working on over five to ten campaigns at a time. well congrats to you...true american what do your kids do during all this campaign time,,sorry I just put my kids above politics, my 'free' time(when Im not being a mother, running errands, cooking meals, cleaning, doing laundry, or reading with my child) is spent studying, trying to stay fit, and working to earn my degree and looking for employment, I give (although not to political campaigns)when and where I can and single parenthood doesnt allow me a set schedule of FREE hours, I do what I can during the times I can |
