This is why I refuse to use anything Google and instead use www.startpage.com for my search engine ...

This little pricque thinks nothing about invading OUR privacy while doing all he can to protect his own ... sounds like 'double standard' to me ...

That's why I run no-script so I can block google-analytics from tracking me. Also why I don't use Chrome.

I NEVER USE GOOGLE!! They save EVERYTHING you search and every site you visit. Although it isn't a big deal here in Canada. They, nor our govt has any chance of violating our privacy like that, but you guys have that patriot act. Your govt can order that info disclosed at anytime. Can't do that here. THANK GOD! we'd overthrow our govt if our privacies were violated like that. As for Google...there are many other search engines. Better ones!

Although Chrome is very nice and fast, it's also an invitation of entire corporations into your life.

By the way, using one search engine over another won't stop the spying..yahoo or whatever you pick will be spying on your habits and sell out your info for business purposes or worse..to FBI..and Google has been known giving out info to FBI anyway.

Example about how you would know:

I was browsing the Verizon website like 3 weeks ago and I was messing around with the phone configurations vs. monthly plans. I only gave out my home address in my "shopping cart", but then I deleted my shopping cart and I never even made an account or anything. A week down the road, I'm getting junk mails about Verizon phones and been getting them ever since.

Remind you, I didn't purchase anything, they still recorded my home address and name anyway.

Whatever you type on the net, will stay on the net, and whoever else can read it or record it.

I am one nerd who loves everything google.

Sure they track your searches, to advertise to you.

I'd rather get targeted advertisements instead of Viagra ads every time I refresh a page.

You don't have any greater chance of getting viruses and things of that nature from google over anything else on the internet. They key is to be smart about your surfing habits.

Google's evils have been known for a long time, them, yahoo, microsoft, and others are all equally bad. Most of them have deals with the chinese government as far as releasing users' information, search history, etc...

These days, you have to go for the smaller companies, the ones who still care about users before income, not vice versa.

There are several articles which mention the chinese issue, and like one poster mentioned, the FBI issues as well.

It's not paranoia anymore, the internet is unsafe.

It's even less safe using an insecure OS like Windows on top of it ;]
