Some of my favorites of all times are:

Frailty (with Bill Paxton, Matthew McConnehy (sp?), & Powers Boothe)

The Last Supper (with Cameron Diaz, Bill Paxton, Jason Alexander & Ron Perlman)

Snatch (with Brad Pitt)

Fight Club (with Edward Norton & Brad Pitt & Meatloaf)

My criteria for a good movie is that I cannot guess the ending, who gets killed and what blows up.) I've gotten so weary of the action adventure genre. But I WILL overlook a movie that has actors I detest if the plot is interesting. Like Vanilla Sky & Minority Report with Tom Cruise. I don't really care for him as an actor but Samantha Morton's character in Minority Report was riviting. Vanilla Sky just had an ethereal/surreal quality that I liked.

By far, my favorite movie of all time is "Amelie". I detest romantic comedies but the visuals were stunning and Audrey Tautou was ADORABLE.

So what are YOUR favorite independent movies?

Loved Snatch and Amelie!

Also The Professional (Gary Oldman was amazing in that one!) and Velvet Goldmine with Ewan McGregor.

The Descent- The most original horror film to come out over the last ten years. Why do I say that? Because The Descent is more than just about the evil creatures the women face in the cave. The Descent is a total mind phuck of a film, and when you can pull that off in grand fashion, you have made a great film.

RockNRolla- Most won't consider this a "independent" film. I do. And while I do love Snatch, RockNRolla is a funner film. I became a fan of Mark Strong after watching this.

Hell yeah! I can't think of one Gary Oldman movie I didn't like. Fifth Element was great. Dracula was a bomb but he was so good! Immortal Beloved

It was good. But it has to be the UK cut, not the US version with the weak ending.
