Why is it that our elected officials today out right ignore the principles our founding fathers embraced so dearly? Rhetorical question, I already know the answer. The real question is why do we the people allow them to get away with it, again I already know the answer. What was/is the catalyst for the complacency of Americans of yesterday and today? This country has been being turned on its ear longer than I've been alive, but in my lifetime I've seen staggering changes and never for the better.

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free... it expects what never was and never will be.

The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

Does the government fear us? Or do we fear the government? When the people fear the government, tyranny has found victory. The federal government is our servant, not our master!

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks], will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state.

Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.

Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear.

And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerve in the brain of Jupiter. But may we hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with this artificial scaffolding, and restore to us the primitive and genuine doctrines of this most venerated reformer of human errors.

I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God.

Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none.

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.

This man was a true visionary and steadfast student of history.

Shhhhhh, dont quote historical rhetoric and beliefs, you may incite the public to civil disobedience and a civil war in the cry of freedoms designed to be passed through generations a government meant to address issues amongst the nation not support it.......instead we rip and tear apart the foundations of a nation, when the cure is to live capable of self-protection and self-sufficiency........seperation of state and federal governments to allow the people the options of conformity or non-conformity of regulations in place by the federal government........but when politicians go against the voice of the people and sit in misrepresentation over representation of the sentiments of the people they are supposed to represent then what they set forth is illegal and against the majority of citizens......if we can hire them we should be allowed to remove them when they lose sight of whom and what they represent..........

Jefferson was also a slave owner with BAD jungle fever! Still, he was a much smarter man than most back then and compared to politicians today... they make him look like frikken Einstein!

Benjamin Franklin had several Bastard children outside of his marriage. Ulysses Grant was a HARD core bigot and was worst than Lincoln about it. Lincoln being known as the great emancipator is a fallacy becasue Lincoln also had a very dim view of Negros. So was President Theodore Roosevelt who drove away most black voters of the day from the Republican Party with his bigoted rhetoric and policies.

Jefferson was smarter than the rest by a long shot. Everything he warned us about is happening!

Pretty much everybody especially the wealthy were bigoted sonsabitches back then, and that really hasn't changed much. All the prominent men back then were bigger whores than your nightly street walker in any town USA. Syphalis was rampant amongst them and most smoked pot.

Another thing I have found with the "quotes" from him. They are taken out of context to what he writes in his writings. It is better to read the whole thing than to take the quotes at face value.

How could anyone believe in this statement then vote for the GOP/T-baggers?

1st off the Tea Party is not the GOP and BTW calling someone a Tea Bagger is more of a compliment than insult because its always better to be the bagger than the baggee. 2nd the dumbocRATS are jsut as much in bed with big business as the publicans. Remember Hussein the Obamanables 900 billion $ bailout of wall street???

actually, information on the wall street bailout shows much different numbers in hindsight

Ms. SOLOMON: Well, it's funny, the $700 billion is probably the worst thing they could've ever done because they never actually spent that much money. At the peak, I think, they actually spent about $365 billion. Theyve gotten a lot of it back from the banks and now they have a little bit left outstanding. They expect the program to ultimately lose $50 billion, which is far less than the $700 billion price tag that sort of stunned everybody in 2008 when Hank Paulson went up to the Hill to ask for that.

You right about that.

Come Nov., the demonrats need ta' open real wide to drop the tea bags.

I ain't gonna' wash mine cuz, I know they like 'em real ripe.

Lots of that bail-out money went to groups that committed to funding La Raza.

Fannie and Mac
Citi Corp and a few others.

I wonder how much money the government would have to pay out to investors and individuals who have federally insured money in those banks had they just let them 'fail'?

I think if Thomas Jefferson were to come back today, he would give Glenn Beck a good swift kick in the azz and tell him how F'd up he is about the founding fathers ideas for this country.

I think that is what he would think about almost all areas of our government and all the people working in it.

I thought about that and then I remembered, they don't miss a thing. Before paying out a dime, I imagine they would have looked into every debt that was owed - from credit card balances, student loans, back taxes, medical bills, even child support and made their claims on that money. And then there are the retirement accounts - separately insured, can you imagine the amount taxes that would have been withheld from an insurance payout???

Then I wondered, what if that had happened? Perhaps not as many banks would have failed as we might think - but a lot debt would have been paid off and people would take whatever little they had recieved from their insurance payout and put back into the banks.

What else would they do?
