Love is just a word.
People either choose to tolerate each other and stay together, or they choose not to.

I beg to differ. Love is not "just a word." It's a feeling, not comprised of a singular emotion or action, but many. It cannot simply be melted down and condensed into something simple, like a definition, because it isn't something that you could ever accurately articulate into words.

My definition is a score of zero (as in tennis).

Oh, this made me giggle.

FearandLoathing, would you happen to be in Las Vegas?

depends on what kind of love you are talking about

the love you have for children (your own, otherwise it could be kind of creepy) is not the same as the love you have for a pet, (hopefully) but you can derive pleasure from each of them.

love can be both good and bad for you...food, alcohol, drugs.

love in a none platonic relationship (despite what has been previously stated, sorry nykolas) does have limits, rules and regulations.

love is a four letter word, just like work, and it takes a lot of work to sustain it.

love seems to be the ultimate measure of acceptance. the ultimate connection that we can enjoy with others, but it does come at a price. a price that is well worth it, if one finds the right garden to cultivate.

if nothing else, it does make for an interesting search.

Love works like this. *snap*

And turns off like this. *clap, clap*

And burns like this. *lights match*

-sigh- Ah the good ole' "What is love" topic... Love is poetry in motion, never stoping, nor is it stopped. Love is, without limits, rules, or regulations. There is no award for having or giving love to or from someone. The only true reward of love is pure connection with another person, thing, or animal. (no beastiality involved) Love knows no bounds, there are many different types of love in this world, but the most pure is "True Love" which i believe is what everyone should be allowed to find in this crazy world. Love has no one deffinition, it is everything and everyone. even the most unruly and ice cold prison inmates are capable of love and compassion, yet it might be a little more f'd up than we would see.

I agree with this!!! so well said Nykolas & true love isn't necessarily picture perfect, but maybe when every deal breaker in the world just can't break that bond!

That small tisk was only about 1/8th of my thoughts on the subject all condensed down. I'd be more than happy to ramble in my poets spirit if you people wish. (I will need atleast 5 different people to agree)

(on a side note, one poem of mine so far is written in the poems and creative writing forum)

Ok, I know I already put a deffinition but I'm bored so I'm going all out so bear with me and make sure you actually read it. I will end up putting alot of the same stuffi n this one because I'm not tuning it down this time.

Love is poetry in motion, It flows like a river of passion within everyone. Ever changing and never stoping. even though you think you may love someone it may not be right, you may be blinded by lustful intentions. Make sure you don't let anything cloud your judgment. In short I'm sorry I know I said this one would be full out but I believe that this is the last of what i need to say because it's the truth. I've been in love only once. actually had a conversation with her maybe 20 mins ago last a few hours. very interesting. anyways.. I believe that if love is true nothing will stop you from achieving happiness. and I would have done anything for her but she gave up. You must fight for love because it cannot fight for itself. Belief, trust, and understanding is a big part of it. Make sure you communicate.

Love is an emotional response to a unknown situation.

The biggest issue I have with these questions is that they are always about love, which is simply an emotional response like hate. These questions never take into account the amount of care someone may have for someone (or something, Gein fans beware).

I honestly think that instead of love we should be focused more on care considering that love is used by 12 year olds to explain their first date, perhaps care would be a better word. I care about someone, I know she cares about me and it is a pretty awesome feeling knowing someone cares about you.

Care insinuates longevity, longevity leads to love...care=love.
