Would you date someone that had a DUI (OVI) on their record within the past 2 years? I'm not going to give you a back story....I want your honest first thoughts. (no, I didn't get a DUI)

I would have to say no as I have strong feelings on drinking and driving. That's my opinion on the subject. Just wondering what the story is now that you mentioned it!?

Depends.....

Is this thier first one or thier fourth?

Anyone can make a mistake....if they payed the price and dont do it again then you would have to be a total douche to crucify someone who was done what they can to set things right for a mistake that they can't undo.

If however, this aint thier first one...then they are a total dumbass and will be spending way too much money on bail, fines, court costs just because they are too stupid to learn a lesson and eventually you will be spending your own time and money dealing with thier stupidity.

If it is their first and they are dealing with it I don't have a problem with it.

Hummm if ya live in Texas the DWI Laws here are very hard on even first offenders.....

If they have several then most likely they have a serious drinking problem....and well I'm not going there....noway noway

Interesting thoughts.

My first general reaction was NO too, but then I think about 2 people who are very close to me in my life (for a long long time) and how they went through the same thing. I know their struggles and how they went about setting it right.....why can't someone else be the same?

Absolutely not. 1) It shows they don't make good decisions 2) it shows they have a lack of respect not only for their own life but others lives as well. I was married to an alcoholic for 2 years several years ago and he always came home lit but he never got caught. If he had ever been caught I would have left him in jail to rot....

I see your point, however I think your past experience may have left you jaded on the subject. I'm not saying everyone who gets a DUI is going to turn it around and never do it again. But I do think people deserve ONE chance to show that they can.

Another quick thought that ran through my mind is that there are very few of us that can say we have never drank and drove a car. Not that it's right.......but being realistic. High fives to those that haven't..lol.

Perhaps a little jaded yes. But when I go out with my friends I am amazed at how drunk people get and then drive themselves home. Fortunately I'm always the DD when we do go out so I can make sure that everyone arrives alive.

Just remember....

every last one of us has screwed up somewhere along the line. Every last one of us have made some truly dumbassed choices to regret them later.

IF someone is dumb enough to repeat thier mistake...axe them...clean, quick and mercilessly.

If you are so pure that you dont have to deal with people who have made a mistake in thier past....get used to living your life in solitude cause I aint aware of a single adult who hasnt messed up big time.

Hummm wild thing is if most have just 2 drinks within and hour and get back in their vehicle they could be considered for a DWI even if they are not drunk.

But most don't think about that....in Texas if a Cop sees you coming out of a bar they have the right to pull you over.

Also if you feel you had a few too many but.... in fact you got in your car put your keys in the ignition to either start it to keep warm or listen to the radio you can still be arrested for a DWI.......

I'm not trying to make excuses for those with DWI's just saying....that if they have only have one and making restitution then they should not be blown away.....More then one I could understand.....

And no I have never had one I do know a few that have had one and they lost their CDL's over it which caused them to loose the job they had.

We all make mistakes in life shouldn't our judgments be based on our actions in fixing what we did after our mistakes instead of what we did? whoa

But in all seriousness, it would depend if there was a problem present like drinking every night or constant partying.

I would, I know I am not perfect in my life and have made some mistakes. (that not being one)But plenty of others and learned from them and made me a stronger person.

It would throw up some serious red flags for me, but I can't say for sure either way without being in the situation and knowing the details. And, how far back in the two years.

I would consider it only if those offences were like 20 years ago, and they have been to rehab, and are currently working the 12 steps of alcaholics anonymous.. LOL
