Have you found it? What are you trying to balance?

My answer is No and I have been trying to for years. Between work and kids, I just can't seem to find my balance.

Any suggesions from those who have found it?

My answer is No, as well.

I have my writing, and that's it. There really is nothing else. I would never want to give that up, but it would be nice to have something or someone else in my life....

I am finding my balance but only because my oldest son is 26 and on his own and the younger one is in college. I think when you are a single working parent it is nearly impossible to find time for yourself. We put our children and their needs first, our jobs second and if you are lucky enough to find any time left over---that is definitely when something at home will stop working. Murphy's law I guess

Sorry Chrissy but I'm not much help! All I can say is that it does get betterflowerforyou

I think perhaps balance is a fluctuating state, I am incredibly well balanced compared to where I was five years ago after my husband died, but does that mean my life is all in balance? Seeing as how I've had no income since quitting my job a week before xmas...that part is way out of whack!

Perhaps if you are staying (mostly) sane while raising children and working you are in perfect balance for this time in your life.

Finding your center of balance has nothing to do with shifting external weights. It's the internal ones you have to tweak.

13 months and 1 day you will find balance...till then keep all the balls spinning. Keep all the hopes happening. You set this date of 13 months and 1 day...mark it on your calendar and lets see where you are then.

Yes, I think I've found it. Work is stressful these days, but I make it a point to get out, see friends and have fun outside of work.

I work full time and have two daughters and one son. The oldest is 15 and the youngest is 7. Or 8, sometimes I lose track. ohwell

Anyway, so I can understand what you are talking about. There is no magic formula. The best thing I can suggest is keeping your life as simple as possible and taking care of yourself first. I try not to plan too much and keeping everything low key.

I'm not sure exactly where you are feeling unbalanced in your life, so it's kind of hard to give advice. But, I can sympathize with you and remind you that they will be grown up before you know it and things will slow down. flowerforyou

Chrissy. You have me incredibly off kilter and stumbling with this question!

Haha, funny how the most direct and honest inquiries catch you off guard!!

I really think balance is more a state of mind than management of time, You know you have to wirk, you know you have the kids. Its more about accepting your situation and being happy with yourself. A little adult fun time every now and then dont hurt either!

Balancing your time comes in shifts throughout your life. When my kids were young and I was working full time guess I did not really think about it much just did what I needed to do and it all seemed to work out.

Then as they grew up things changed again finally moving out life seems to have it's way of balancing out as you go along.

Even though there may be many bumps in the road we always seem to be able to get though it. I guess it is the bumps that wakes us up once in a while and remind us to enjoy those smooth times regardless how little or how few we have......bigsmile
