lets say you have a best friend.
and she asks you to make a painting for her.
so you do.
but you're not going to let her see it or know what it's of til you're done.
and throughout the whole process you keep telling her she will eventually get it.
you keep working on it.
and you promise her that no matter what,
even if it's ten years from now,
you WILL give her this painting because it's hers.
but then she completely stops talking to you.
she just ignores you.
haven't heard from her in over a month.
do you still give it to her?

Yes, you do. You made a promise. It's your opportunity to take the high road. You might even have a chance to reconcile your conflict. This should be a no-brainer.

If it takes a friend ten years to finish a painting for me, it says to me I am not that important to her. So I blow her off, and would no longer want the pic anyway, so NO, dont bother..

True friends can go 6 mos or a year without talking and when they talk again they start up like they never stopped talking... So I would say "yes" BUT it shouldn't take 10 yrs to finish a painting... If you don't talk for 10 yrs, I'd say after 3-5 the painting won't mean much unless you start talking in that 10....

I don't see it that way. I make a hobby of doing some creative things. It takes me forever to complete the projects I care about most. Lots of down time. percolation time. I can toss off the pap in no time. It's the quality stuff that can take forever.

If you were asked to showcase your art at a gallery and you had to show 30 pieces would you wait ten years to complete your project.

I would never be in that league. George Gershwin could turn out a finished masterpiece in a week's time. I don't understand that kind of talent. It's not a job for me. Just a labor of love.

fact;
the painting is done.
and she's aware of that.

And she won't talk to you? I might ask her if she still wanted it.. If she doesn't I'd figure out what I wanted to do with it.. If she wanted it then I'd send it to her...

If someone stopped speaking to me for no reason, no way in hell am I giving them a painting. I'd either keep it for myself or give it to someone else. Or get pissy and destroy it.

We're assuming that the reason this other person stopped talkng to her is because of the picture. that's not a good assumption. Is there something else in the mix? Something reconciliable? A misunderstanding, perhaps. I would want to know if it was me.
