I have to ride my bicycle a longggggggggg way to church today in the heat....my ride cancelled AGAIN.

Is it proper, to wear shorts,(not real short), and flip flops,(nice flip flops), to church?

I think clothes would be an abomination to God. We do not come equipped with clothes. I would suggest going naked and praising your creator for the fine body that has been created for you.

If thine body does offend others, ask them why they choose to cover up the beauty of any of god's creations.

If that's not to your liking, wear whatever you wish. Who are you trying to connect with - God or your neighbors??????

PS - do you think God reads fashion magazines? If so don't you think God is quite sexist? just asking.

Sure it is! I'm not sure about flip flops on a bicycle though. One time when I was little I was riding a bike and the front wheel hit a rock. Or was it a pothole on the sidewalk? Maybe it was the Grand Canyon? Anyways, it decided to halt in it's tracks while the back wheel didn't. Long story short, I lost part of my big toe. Well, ok....I didn't actually lose it cause I knew where it was. It was laying there on the ground, but it wasn't attached anymore and duct tape didn't seem to keep it back on. Eventually it grew back, but it's just not the same. It's like having a pet and it dies and then you get another one that's just as good and even does tricks and does your taxes and all like the last one, but it's just not the same as the first one. Oh, wait....what was the question?

If anyone said anything to me about my shorts and flip flops I would simply say very politely and without malice...

"Oops! It seems I've stumbled into the wrong room, I didn't mean to intrude on your fashion show. Do you know which room worship is being held in?"

I know God doesnt care what I wear, but I just didnt want to disrespect my church..

I think the effort you made in riding your bike to worship shows more respect for your God, chruch and it's members than anything you could possibly wear could.

I was once told.. whatever you do, do with respect.. if you believe and will change your dress for man..ie a president, King ect. why would you have less respect for your faith? so do unto others as you would have them do unto you.. Be who you are and the rest will come naturally.. never be a fake.. Blessings..Miles

my mother is the all time expert on church stuff, just ask her and she'll say it's true so it must be true, and she'd say that flip flops and shorts are a definite no no. your best dress and shoes are the only thing appropriate.

If you are that worried about it, next time carry a pair of shoes and a nice skirt you can pull on over your shorts, in a back pack and change in the bathroom or something.

I was raised to wear my sunday best to church but As an adult I choose to worship in a more contemporary setting where what you have on dosent matter . . . were just glad you came to worship with us.:)

It was 82 degrees outside, and not a short ride, probably about 10 miles.

But God will do anything for me, so I will do anything for him.

If I can get a ride, (which is not often) I ALWAYS wear a dress to church.

I guess it was silly to ask, but hey, the stupidest question, is the one you dont ask.

I do believe that a sloven appearance is disrespectful where it is avoidable. But if God prefers patten leather shoes and fancy dresses on his worshipers, I would think that he would have put a stop to the thousands of years that his followers wore dirty sheets. The only specifics I recall in my studies of the Bible is about clenliness. And even this instruction allowed for washing oneself with sand if no water is available.

Personally, I don't possess dress clothes, as I belive God perfers I spend my 10% on charity as he requested, than on earthly adornments for myself.
