The Israeli aid is not that much in our budget....
Some people here just want to single Israel out for derision
in any way they can because they seem to have an irrational hatred
for Israel.

The U.S. spends nearly $50 billion a year in earmarks!

For example,

President Obama's Fiscal Year 2010 budget proposes $53.8 billion for appropriated international affairs' programs.

so even $2B/yr is about 4% of the intl affairs budget.

Maybe math isn't the strong point of the Israel-haters.

You need to keep it in perspective.

So I say the Israelis are right. Terrorists put down your arms
and hateful ideologies and commit to live in peace. No respectable
country will support your efforts to gain weapons and kill
innocent civilians. I am just weird like that.

laugh

There is no political grievance which justifies bus bombings and
rocket attacks on cities. Period.

Support the religious tolerance in Israel and help them live
free from unwarranted terrorist attacks.

Stop trying to help Hamas get access to arms shipments!

Support Israel with 4% of our international affairs budget
and help them fight terrorists and support peace!

The Israeli aid is uncalled for and unnecessary and they don't need it.

Our budget is ridiculous I agree.

Realy?

We know of course that one of the main obstacles to Zionist objectives was that Britain envisioned a Palestine as portrayed by the Balfour Declaration, that is to say a society that would protect the civil and religious rights of all who lived there.

To dislodge the British, whom the League of Nations had mandated to govern Palestine, the Zionists developed the use of terrorism as a modern weapon of political revolution. Menachem Begin, Abraham Stern, Yitshak Shamir, David Ben-Gurion, and many others were all terrorists and began a campaign of bombings and assassination. Among their atrocities were the hanging and garroting of British soldiers with piano wire whose mutilated bodies were left to be found by the British authorities.

Further, Israeli terrorists blew up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, killing more than 100 people and their operatives invented the letter-bomb technique. Jewish hitmen even assassinated the UN mediator in Palestine, Count Folke Bernadotte, because he dared to express concern for the rights of the Palestinians. In his final report to the UN before his death, Bernadotte scathingly referred to "Zionist pillage on a grand scale and the destruction of villages without apparent military need"

If I'm right about this, can it be really be argued that a State that was founded on terrorism has a right to exist, especially in the light of Israel's apparent selective memory of its own history which enables it to keep a striaght face while attacking a neighbouring State with a terrorist organization tenuously connected with governence?

July 2, 1946: The King David Hotel in Jerusalem was bombed. Killing 91 people

Menachem Begin sic who planned the destruction of the King David Hotel and the massacre of Deir Yassin (See picture at top of this page, flanked by pictures of the bombed King David Hotel). Ex prime minister, Shamir, was originally a member of the Jewish "terrorist" gang called Irgun, which was headed by none other than Menachem Begin. Shamir later moved over to the even more radical "Stern Gang," which committed many vicious atrocities.
Shamir himself has defended the various assassinations committed by the Irgun and Stern gangs on the grounds that "it was the only way we could operate, because we were so small. So it was more efficient and more moral to go for selected targets." The selected moral targets in those early days of the founding of the state of Israel included bombing of the King David Hotel and the massacre of Deir Yassin.

Two of the operations for which the Irgun is best known are the bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on 22 July 1946 and the Deir Yassin massacre, carried out together with Lehi on 9 April 1948.

The Irgun has been viewed as a terrorist organization or organization which carried out terrorist acts.[3]

The amount of money going to Israel is not a significant fraction
of the Israeli budget and is a small fraction of our diplomatic
budget in the US.

It is money well spent to assist our longtime allies battling for
their very existence against regional and international bigots and
terrorists and those who try to make it easier to smuggle arms to
the Hamas terrorists for the support of attacks targeting innocent
men women and children.

while everything you say is true - we have to cut foreign aid & they are on the block with everyone - they are an excellent ally but we have to go home and clean our house now

I agree with Jeanne that we cannot continue to fund countries like Israeli and cut domestic spending on entitlement programs such as social security & medicare - it;s like hey, before you buy a new bike for the kid down the block you make sure your own kids have bikes & new clothes, shoes, plenty of food & a roof - pretty simple really

Did the Balfour Declaration envision the creation of Jordan which sits on about 80% of the original Mandate?

For a people without Land.

One million Russians have entered Israel.

Where did they come from.

The end is nigh

The game is up

Who cares about the Israli budget?
We, America, are on the verge of bankruptcy.
We, America are spending the Social Security fund I have paid into my entire life.

Why do you think we owe Israel anything?

What kind of "allies" are they?

I say stop sending them money. There is no reason to.

Unless the rumors are true that they are blackmailing America. I wouldn't put it past them.

Guess Russia or China would be glad to take over the Docking and Storage Facilities of the 6th Fleet in Haifa, and probably gladly pay twice the 3 Billion for Mediterranean Deepwater-Portfacilities!

Yep,and all those Russians live in the Westbank!
Israel accomodated 1 million Jews at its inception, who were thrown out of Lebanon,Syria and Egypt in '47,yet those same Arabstates found it impossible to resettle half a Million of their Brethren.
