But Mr. Nosey eyes will probably

IT depends upon the guy.

IS he into sports?
Is he artistic?
Is he a musician?
Does he spend alot of time traveling?
Does he spend alot of time outdoors/camping?
Does he spend alot of time driving?
Is he into concerts, or boxing, or car races?

...its much more personal than just their gender,,,

I know, huh :-)
He likes anticipating..
I will mail early, like next week.
It's a 3 day trip.
I don't see him waiting until Christmas.

Seems like the best gift idea is one that makes the person feel like it was picked only for him. Meal of his favorites. A movie by his favorite "star" and yes some special attention from you. Don't underestimate the the power of a nice back rub or helping him with chores. I personally think sex should not be abligatory by the calendar as it sort of sets up the whole whore scenario when hopefully it means something more.

Buy him the second and third volumes only of three-volume leather-bound set of the complete transcript of the "Stalin's speech to the Red Guard, describing his response to Socrates and the New Ideognosticologists' Weltanschauungsseminar In Kochev, Kiev, 1968" My mom bought this for dad that year for Christmas, because this was all that the shelves were stocked with in Hungary's department store. He went wild with joy! I bet because he knew that with this gift she owed him an apology big time.

(If you are a guy, do what Dad did, if you are a real man. Buy the same thing for her. Dad did, coz, like I said, for two months concluding with Christmas, this was the only thing that money could purchase on the retail level that year.)

I think the best gift is something that’s unexpected but you do have to know your man …some men really do hate surprises!

To a point, I like surprises as a gift. For the most part, I'm not fond of gifts at all. Well ok.... Pretty much just for designated times like X-Mas, B-days, Valentines day, etc. Sure, for those days, a good gift is one that is WELL though out, but, should a calender be the one to tell you when? I think NOT! When the calender tells you you're getting a gift (or you gotta give one), isn't much of the point lost? A TRUE gift is one that is given or received 'just because'. Not because you're 'supposed to'. Just for that reason I hide my B-day on FB for a couple months a year to avoid it! Well, also for the reason that why should I get attention just because the calender says I'm still alive....

For no other reason than it can become a bit of a chore and I’m not overly romantic ….I really don’t like receiving gifts from men on b-day’s, anniversaries, Valentine’s day or xmas.

I much prefer random gifts/cards unless the gift/card is something that’s a bit different and/or unusual. For example, I used to date someone that always made my cards or he would personalise/deface shop bought cards. He also used to personalise/deface CD covers with funny, personalised messages… the best card he ever made for me was his homemade ‘congratulations your not up the duff’ card …we were both really happy with that one laugh

Because I like unusual bits of jewellery and only wear silver, he once went through my jewellery box and bought me some lovely jewellery with my birthstone as the focus. He used to get when I didn’t wear it. He didn’t understand that I was scared to wear it because it was so special that I was scared of loosing it.

What do they like, and is there anything they like that they want? That there is where you should start.

Me, I'm simple. I don't need something expensive or fancy. Obviously I like Ohio State, so that's a given, lol

Honestly have never had that problem....Most men if you really listen they will give you so many hints it is unreal... Men don't beat around the bush what they want or what they really like...

For mine it will be stuff to do with the Cowboys,Longhorns or Nascar..... along with clothes & boots maybe a few movies.... To me men are easy to buy for....bigsmile
