Does the way someone presents themselves online affect the way you think about them? This includes the way they write, spelling/grammar, if they take things very seriously/not seriously at all, get offended easily/offends others often just to name a few.

What about the way someone presents themselves online is important to you? What doesn't matter to you?

I'm gonna have to say I do in fact make judgements about people based on the things you mentioned.

But none of its important.

I'm not here to 'meet' anyone, so none of it matters.

Presentation has a huge impact.
Thin skinned I avoid, because no matter
what you say to them, they will find something
offensive in it. Waaa waaa.
They become the worst offenders.

The grammar I can overlook, as we are all at
differing levels of aptitude there.

The wit and humor will out :-)
What they look like does not matter to me.
How they treat others matters the most.

Having standards matters everywhere. When a person has standards you can respect, it makes a favorable impression.

Well said, Soufie.

I don't always avoid the thin skinned, though, because I like to be able to comment on the threads I find interesting. There's always going to be someone thin skinned around, so it's hard to avoid them all the time.

Grammar/spelling does not mean too much if it doesn't impact understanding of what they're trying to write. When it starts to not make sense, then it absolutely does matter to me.

I definitely agree with this.

I try not to judge a book by its cover, but some stuff is clearly a red-flag. I kinda get sucked into the idea of the anonymonity (sp?) of being online and act a little goofier than normal.

I will echo the last part of Soufie's response and say it's how people treat others is what matters most.

Just about all of us judge people to some level or another. I do pay attention to spelling and grammar to some degree... not to the extent of some, but I do like people who actually pay attention to that. We all make mistakes so I don't mind those, but it is the horrible typing some people do that turns me away completely.

Think/thick skinned people do not bother me at all. I basically ignore them completely. If you cannot handle what is being said, go away please.

Those who purposefully troll others to get a reaction get on my nerves though. Little comments used to bait people into confronting them, and then playing victim. I usually see it in some of the music forums I frequent more than here, but even M2 is not without it's share of them as I have seen in the past.

I limit judgements to....cool/ douche bag. Once someone is forum hounding for a while...it is an easy call to make.

I hope I'm never judged on my posts because it's just not who I am. I try to be witty without ever offending anyone which in this day and age is very difficult! I enjoy reading the posts of many of the Mingle regulars and feel like I know most of you awesome people!
