Hmmm, it could well be an art form. Personally, I have NEVER flirted here on Mingle2. Imagine unleashing that beast :-) No winks, flowers, hearts, or come-ons. Simply BECAUSE it is on line. You do not know with whom you deal. You do not know if someone is the stalker type. Or obsessive. They could be..anyone. I wonder if there is wifi in solitary.

Not sure I would go so far as to call it an art form, but there are definitely some who are better at it than others. Some people just lack the articulacy to get their thoughts across effectively through writing.

Not sure I would go so far as to call it an art form, but there are definitely some who are better at it than others. Some people just lack the articulacy to get their thoughts across effectively through writing. I agree on the art form bit and some are better at it than others but the emoticons help the less gifted to comminicate ..

I give hearts and flowers and winks and any other emoticon that looks pleasant because that's just the way I am. I can't help it. It does not mean I want to have sex with the person I give them to. Writing in forums is a very limited way to communicate. You can't hear my tone of voice or see my body language so I use the emoticons to communicate my feelings. They help convey a positive message or, at least, they let the person know I am not talking down to them.

It isn't exactly an art, but it is a skill that some people are better at than others. You see people doing it wrong all the time. I like to think i was pretty good at it back in the day, i've probably lost it now though. I haven't attempted it for the past 5 years that i have been in a serious relationship.

I like to think i was pretty good at it back in the day, i've probably lost it now though. I haven't attempted it for the past 5 years that i have been in a serious relationship. No takers so far for it being an Art Form but lots of people agree that some are better at it than others. Wonder what those people have?...those that are better at it

I think maybe it is partly our personalities as well. I tend to trust and love easily, not in a romantic way, but I have many friends who are male that I tell I love. They know that I am married, they know I love my husband, but they are fantasic friends who know I am here if they need me. I am the same on the internet.

Flirting as an art form???? Very doubtful, but could be viewed that way by those who are no good at it...
