Don't tell me what I believe. I just clearly stated "I don't believe in any gods."
NOT "I believe there are no gods."

If you cannot understand the difference, you cannot understand my perspective, so don't try.

Well, we can tell from some of the post how hard they have designed religion to recover from eh?

We can also tell by some of the posts that lack of religion is in itself a form of religion... those that propound a need for religion to be gone do so with the same fervor that a religious person proclaims their faith.

Neither religion nor its opposit will I follow...

I will simply place my faith in God.

You may believe what you wish (but please do not force it upon me - I have a big stick also).

Doesn't apply to all who aren't religious. You can't assume the same of all people who happen to not be religious. Lack of religion is not in itself a religion. It just occurs that some who aren't religious follow some of the same behaviors as those who are.

Atheism is just as much of a religion as Christianity, Buddhism, ect ect.

Religion - Details of belief as taught or discussed

If you "believe" there is no God, that in itself is then a "belief".

I don't believe in any gods. That doesn't necessarily mean I state a belief that there certainly is none.
It's the absence of a belief, not a belief in itself. Also, it's certainly not details taught. I didn't learn atheism from anyone, it was just natural. It's hardly even important for me to identify as one except when people try to bring up religion. If anything, it was always the intent that I was taught to be religious... and I was... as a child.

Atheism is a single "trait", or rather lack of a belief. Not a set of beliefs. Not believing in gods is the beginning and end of what defines atheism. Nothing more. It's a single "trait" and not even one that's necessarily entirely separate of certain religions. (Atheistic Buddhism anyone?)

Religion is multiple organized beliefs and rules that one adheres to. I'm not adhering to any beliefs or rules with no gods. I don't believe, so the thought becomes irrelevant. Aside from discussions on religion, gods are hardly on my mind.

If not believing in gods is a religion, not collecting stamps is a hobby.

One can not have a lack of a belief. You believe there are no gods, thus a belief.

Would you call your lack of belief in the Hindu gods a belief in itself? Or not believing in the Wiccan Goddess?
We're all atheists of someone else's religion.

That's very good.

I dont know,, those who seem to oppose religion the most consistently (at least on mingle)seem to be much unhappier and emptier than those who dont,,,although they protest more often about how much happier they supposedly are,,,

just an observation though,,,

Very good observation,MS.

That is not a good observation. It is a very limited one from a single perspective.

I find it very funny to see how 'god made men' are arguing over the existence of god.

I also find it funny, how he is terming in plural form to GOD ( as GODS) despite of not believing in GOD.

((( BTW,it seems as if you have some objection on my reactions!!)))

Well, In my opinion it is really very good observation & she has nicely put that too.

Generally who opposes something are really sick about that. That is my observation too.

I found his response to be very intelligent and logical. Not funny.
I find your reactions to be emotional and mocking.

Hummm..not your fault, that is a general tendency of those who don't believe in god.
They usually considers emotional to those who believes in god. Some people even considers it as superstition too.

BTW,I'm not mocking,I really find it funny & as u thinks in totally different way than me,it is impossible for you to know why I'm finding it funny.

No offense,I guess.

I say gods because it's what I mean. I don't just not believe in the Abrahamic God, I don't believe in any deities.
So yeah, I say gods because I don't believe in The Goddess, Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesha, Devi, Surya, etc.

Yes, how hilarious it is to be mindful that there are other religions and systems of belief in the world.
Also, I was never arguing about the existence of any god or the lack thereof.

You don't know what I believe in. You have no idea.

I still found your reaction to be emotional, and mocking. Your laugh was mocking, it was not because anything funny was said.

A mocking laugh is rude.

Unless you would like to explain what the joke is.

How would you feel towards anyone who would laugh at you for believing in God?

Would you find that funny or mocking?

Think about it.

Whatever I explain, won't work when you are bound to count it as rude.

Better,leave it.

I consider my explanation up till now well enough to prove my politeness.

I am happy that you are finding so much to laugh about, everyone should laugh. But now that you know that it is considered to be mocking another person's belief, and rude, will you continue to do so or will you be more polite as you claim you are?
