I think the ones who show the most personality on here are awesome (like many of the above on this forum for starters. )
If you can goof around a little, show your personality some, and have a good time, to me that's what it's all about. flowerforyou I've made many good friends on this site.

I love you guys!
I guess that should have gone in the "has someone told you they love you today" section...

you mean 'feed me like a baby'??

Can MG do that?!!!!???!surprised
well what else could you have meant??

MG takes off makeup sits in his room and cries. "I thought he wanted me" "but, no! he wants her instead".

he walks to his record player

and the sounds begin

"all by myself
don't want to be
all by myself anymore"

I quite often read others advice of 'just be yourself' here in the forums.

In theory it is sound advice, but realistically, when people are being 'themselves', they tend to get ripped apart by people for doing that.....tis like watching rabid dogs fighting over a piece of meat at times.

Soooo...are you being yourself on here? OR...are you complying to the masses and only allowing that which is considered 'acceptable behaviour'?

Why do you think people get "ripped apart" for being themselves? I haven't noticed that.

And of course I'm just me. There's no reason to be anyone else.

Sub question:

Do you ever get the feeling that people hold back in their answers for fear of being crucified?

I can't read others' minds, so I don't know if they hold back. I say what I want and feel, though. Some have issues with that, some don't.

I believe people are situation appropriate and only show the side (or sides) of them that they want others to see at that time. For example: ever go to work with someone and get to know the work side of them, then go to their house and see a completely different person? Same goes with church, sports, sex, hobbies, web, family and what ever else each of us might be uniquely into.

I also believe that people who say they have thick skins have some of the thinnest among us. Their defence is offence right from the beginning. They talk about the way others are to protect themselves from the legitimacy of those others. They paint a picture of their norm as being the only norm to hide their own insecurities, or proclaim that they are so different as to cast an image of superiority over those who might be a threat or challenge to them.

To be totally honest I would say that the me on mingle is the mingle me. It's the me I want people to see on a social/dating sight and is far different from the me seen by my peers in biz (biz being my life's work). In some ways it's a more open me as in the rest of my life I am far less approachable.

This is the part I don't get, though. Why you (or others who do the same thing) feel the need to be so different here than in real life? If the mingle you is fare more approachable, you must really not be approachable in real life... laugh. Why such a difference, though?

But exactly when are you really you?

On a first date, you may be nervous, and subconsciously you may not be the real you.

The real you would be when youre comfortable and relaxed? No? Or the real you may come out after a couple shots of jager bombs?

People tend to act differently in different situations dependant on ethical and moral expectations.

What are you trying to say? People aren't normally themselves because of different situations?

I wouldnt say I am not being myself. I would project my behvaiour to reflect the receivers expectations. I am myself, just limited.

Well, you were saying that people aren't normally themselves because of certain situations, which is why I asked why you weren't being yourself.

I'm sure that many of us do not act the same exact way all the time. Does that make us not ourselves most of the time? Of course not.

I agree with all of that :) Yeah it can be pretty entertaining and hilarious. I like the way you just threw yourself into the forums. More people should do that. Then they'd have more people to talk to. Love you flowerforyou

BINGO, good answers! All of us wear different hats at different times. It doesn't make us any less real or genuine, it just makes us situation friendly.
